voco hotels, a part of IHG Hotels & Resorts, a leading global hotel company with over 6,200 destinations across 19 brands, is pleased to announce a significant milestone – the signing of its 25th Americas property located in Missoula, Montana.
This announcement comes nearly three years after voco hotels’ successful launch in the region. The soon-to-be-renovated voco Missoula Downtown is an exciting addition to the brand’s portfolio, known for its conversion-friendly approach that seamlessly blends the local character and charm of an independent property with the quality and reassurance of a respected global brand.
Scheduled to open its doors in mid-2025 under the ownership of McDermid Management, voco Missoula Downtown boasts a prime location along the picturesque Clark Fork riverfront and is situated within a two-mile radius of the University of Montana. This will be the brand’s first property in Montana and will offer 193 guest rooms, a fitness center, an indoor pool, and more than 12,000 square feet of meeting and event space. Guests will also have the opportunity to experience voco hotels’ unique hallmarks, including “Come on in,” “Me time,” and “voco life,” which prioritize an inviting arrival, warm and friendly service, locally inspired welcome amenities, and vibrant bar lounge and restaurant spaces.
voco Missoula Downtown joins an impressive roster of over 100* signed and opened voco hotels across more than 20 countries. This strategic expansion brings the brand one step closer to achieving its goal of having 200 global in-system hotels by 2028, solidifying its status as IHG’s fastest-growing premium brand. The brand’s accelerated growth is largely attributed to its flexible design and operational framework, which makes conversions a viable option. This flexibility has allowed voco hotels to swiftly establish a presence in major metropolitan areas such as Chicago and New York City, resort communities like St. Augustine, and college towns including Columbia, Missouri.
Matt Frankiewicz, SVP of Development for IHG Hotels & Resorts in the Americas, expressed excitement about the brand’s rapid success, stating, “Only three years after its introduction in the Americas and five years after its global launch, voco hotels is already a true success story among IHG’s premium brands. We continue to grow by empowering owners to implement unique visions for an existing property while aligning elements of its legacy, character, and surrounding community with modern brand features. We’re excited to bring voco hotels to other highly visible and prominent locations and introduce even more travelers to all that the brand has to offer.”
voco Missoula Downtown is just one of many exciting new-build and conversion signings that have expanded the brand’s reach and growth pace in the Americas. Other regional properties in the pipeline include:
voco Montreal: This downtown Montreal hotel, set to open in 2025, will be the brand’s first property in Canada. It will offer 59 guest rooms and spacious restaurant and lobby lounge concepts, marking voco hotels’ entry into a new international market.
voco Myrtle Beach: Located in South Carolina, this hotel is undergoing renovation and repositioning. It will feature 241 guest rooms, outdoor engagement spaces, indoor and outdoor pools, a lazy river, and a tiki bar, with a planned early 2025 opening.
voco Royalty Puebla Downtown: Located in Mexico, this property will assume a coveted space along the city’s main square. With 42 guest rooms, it will showcase a design theme inspired by the city’s rich colonial architecture and culture, aiming for a summer 2025 opening.
voco Ardez Hotel Sunnyvale: Situated in the heart of Silicon Valley, this hotel will offer 51 rooms, a unique restaurant concept, and a grab-and-go market. Tentatively scheduled to open in summer 2024, it’s within proximity to tech giants like Google, Apple, and more.
These five new signings add to the excitement surrounding voco hotels’ growth in the Americas. In July, the newly rebranded voco Fiorello – LaGuardia East hotel opened near New York City’s LaGuardia Airport, offering travelers 114 rooms with sophisticated, aviation-inspired décor and sustainable features. The brand also has plans to open new hotels in Mexico City, Cincinnati, Sarasota, Destin, and more in the coming months.
