Accor has opened the ibis Styles Munich Airport, a 358-room design hotel situated directly adjacent to the terminals at one of Europe’s busiest aviation hubs, marking a significant expansion of the airport’s hospitality portfolio.
The hotel opened on 9 June 2026 and is operated by Allresto, the hospitality subsidiary of Munich Airport. It joins the existing Hilton Munich Airport in the airport’s lodging portfolio, specifically targeting travellers seeking high-quality accommodation at a competitive price point.
The interiors draw on the landscape of the Isar River, incorporating shades of green, blue and slate throughout the design to create what the hotel describes as a stylish, harmonious and tranquil atmosphere. The property features 358 modernly equipped rooms, communal lounge areas and on-site dining, catering to business travellers, leisure guests and airline crews.
The hotel’s location offers direct proximity to the airport terminals and to LabCampus, Munich Airport’s innovation and technology centre, making it suited to both short overnight stays and longer flexible visits. The ibis Styles brand, part of the Accor Group, focuses on comfort, straightforward service and design-led environments at accessible price levels.
Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport, said the opening reinforced the airport’s ambitions as an international hub. “The expansion of our hotel offerings creates additional capacity for business and leisure travelers, enhances the appeal of our airport, and simultaneously provides important impetus for growth and value creation in the region,” he said. “Modern, experience-oriented hospitality offerings such as the ibis Styles Munich Airport underscore our commitment to further establishing Munich Airport as an innovative and future-oriented hub in the face of international competition.”
Yannick Wagner, Deputy Chief Development Officer for Europe and North Africa and Managing Director for Germany at Accor, said the opening reflected the group’s broader strategy in the German market. “The hotel exemplifies our development approach in Germany: clearly positioned brands, a high level of relevance for today’s travelers, and international, reliable standards that are deliberately linked to a strong connection with the specific destination,” he said.
Dr. Jan-Henrik Andersson, CCO and CSO of Munich Airport, described the opening as a strategic milestone. “As a strong international partner, ibis Styles represents modern design and affordable comfort that meets the expectations of today’s travelers. In addition to our existing offerings at the airport, this allows us to strategically expand our portfolio and strengthen our market position,” he said.
Allresto already operates a significant share of the food and beverage facilities at Munich Airport and has developed an integrated hospitality model combining dining, hotel accommodation and event catering. The addition of the ibis Styles strengthens the company’s position as the airport’s primary on-site hospitality provider.
Munich Airport is Germany’s second busiest airport and one of the most connected hubs in Europe, handling tens of millions of passengers annually. The airport has been expanding its non-aviation commercial offering in recent years, with hospitality, retail and innovation infrastructure forming a central part of its long-term development strategy.
The ibis Styles brand operates properties across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas, typically positioned in city centres, transport hubs and leisure destinations. The Munich Airport opening adds a significant gateway location to the brand’s European footprint.
