Iberia has increased its flights between Madrid and Valencia, offering two additional daily services until at least November 10 to address route disruptions caused by the recent DANA storm.
Ticket prices for these added flights are set below 99 euros in economy class, providing an accessible alternative for travelers navigating limited transit options.
The high-speed train service between Madrid and Valencia has been suspended for at least two to three weeks due to storm damage, leaving buses, cars, and flights as the only options for travel between the two cities. The Spanish General Directorate of Traffic has advised limiting non-essential travel due to severe damage on the roads.
For those opting for ground travel, the Avanza bus line has resumed service to Valencia using an alternative route via Albacete, although this may increase travel time. Other transport options, such as Alsa buses, have temporarily suspended service to and from Valencia and surrounding areas until conditions stabilize.
Motorists traveling from Alicante can also reach Valencia by taking the AP7 highway and connecting near Silla with the V31, one of Valencia’s ring roads. In addition, the Valencia ring roads, V30 and V31, remain open, providing partial relief as alternative routes to the heavily impacted A7 highway.
Valencia Airport continues to operate, with 878 flights scheduled from Thursday through Sunday, including 219 on Thursday, 234 on Friday, 194 on Saturday, and 231 on Sunday. Although some flights were disrupted earlier in the week, with 30 diversions and 49 cancellations, the airport is now fully functional. However, travelers are advised to confirm flight status with airlines and consult official sources for updated road conditions.
Significant restrictions remain on the A7 highway due to the collapse of a bridge near the A3 junction, a crucial section with a daily traffic flow of approximately 100,000 vehicles. Authorities continue to manage the situation, focusing on maintaining essential travel routes for Madrid and Valencia, while Iberia’s additional flights offer a timely solution for those needing to make the journey.
