ANA Holdings is taking a major step toward expanding its fleet and meeting the growing demand for air travel with a significant order of 77 new aircraft. The order, which includes Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer jets, will strengthen ANA’s international and domestic operations while increasing fuel efficiency and sustainability.
A Multi-Aircraft Order for Strategic Growth
The latest fleet expansion includes 68 confirmed aircraft orders and 9 options, bringing ANA’s total fleet to approximately 320 aircraft by 2030. The investment aims to support rising passenger demand, particularly on Asia-North America routes, and optimize domestic services with more fuel-efficient aircraft.
Here’s a breakdown of the new aircraft orders:
- 18 Boeing 787-9 aircraft for international routes
- 20 Embraer E190-E2 regional jets for domestic flights
- 14 Airbus A321neo aircraft for fleet modernization
- 12 Boeing 737-8 aircraft for short-haul operations
- 10 Airbus A321neo and 3 Airbus A321XLR aircraft for Peach Aviation
With this expansion, ANA’s Boeing 787 fleet will grow to 120 aircraft, making it one of the largest Dreamliner operators in the world. The company expects its international available seat kilometers (ASK) to increase by 1.5 times by 2030, reflecting strong growth in global travel demand.
Fuel Efficiency and Sustainability Goals
A key driver of this massive order is ANA’s commitment to sustainability. By integrating new-generation aircraft like the Embraer E190-E2, Airbus A321XLR, and Boeing 787-9, ANA expects to:
- Reduce fuel consumption and emissions with more eco-friendly engines
- Lower noise pollution through advanced aerodynamic designs
- Optimize supply-demand balance by introducing more flexible fleet options
The Embraer E190-E2, in particular, will be introduced for the first time in Japan, enhancing ANA’s domestic operations with a 100-seat aircraft optimized for fuel efficiency.
Peach Aviation and Domestic Expansion
ANA’s low-cost carrier (LCC), Peach Aviation, will receive new Airbus A321neo and A321XLR aircraft to support its growing operations. These aircraft offer superior fuel efficiency and extended range, allowing Peach to expand its medium- and long-haul services.
Additionally, the Boeing 737-8 will replace older aircraft in ANA’s short-haul fleet, further contributing to operational efficiency.
A Vision for the Future
Koji Shibata, President and CEO of ANA Holdings, emphasized the importance of the new aircraft order:
“This order will be the catalyst for improving the profitability of domestic flights and the expansion of international flights, which is an area of future growth for our airline business. We will fully utilize this opportunity to become an industry-leading airline with sustainable growth.”
By renewing and expanding its fleet, ANA Holdings aims to strengthen its global network, improve passenger experience, and position itself for long-term success in the aviation industry.
