TransNusa is reinforcing its commitment to meeting passenger demand with an expanded flight schedule between Jakarta and Singapore. Beginning July 1, 2025, the airline will increase the frequency of its Jakarta-Singapore service from two daily flights to three, directly responding to Indonesia’s busy school holiday travel period.
The move comes as part of a broader strategy to enhance network connectivity and support travel trends that show strong demand for regional travel options. By adding this extra daily service, TransNusa aims to offer passengers more flexibility, convenience and a premium service experience on one of its most important international routes.
Meeting Demand During Indonesia’s Peak Travel Season
Indonesia’s July school holiday season is traditionally a time of heightened travel activity, with families and tourists seeking accessible, reliable transport options. Recognizing this surge in demand, TransNusa has scheduled an additional daily flight for the entire month of July to ensure smoother, more comfortable journeys for its customers.
The newly added flight, numbered 8B 155, will depart Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 6:30 p.m. and arrive at Singapore’s Changi Airport at 9:15 p.m. On the return leg, flight 8B 156 will depart Changi at 10:05 p.m. and land back in Jakarta at 10:55 p.m., giving travelers convenient evening travel options.
TransNusa’s existing schedule of two daily flights will continue unchanged, offering morning and midday departures to meet the needs of diverse traveler profiles. These existing flights depart Jakarta at 7:55 a.m. and 12:10 p.m., with corresponding return services from Singapore at 11:45 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Enhancing Premium Service and Reliability
TransNusa is positioning itself as South East Asia’s first holistic Premium Service Carrier, having rebranded in 2022 from its earlier identity as a low-cost carrier. This transformation reflects a broader shift in its approach to delivering high-quality, comfortable, and reliable travel experiences for its growing customer base.
TransNusa Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk Bernard Francis underscored the airline’s focus on anticipating and meeting passenger needs. “Our expansion plans are mainly based on our passengers’ needs, demands and travelling trends,” he explained, adding that the additional Singapore flight is specifically intended to support passengers during Indonesia’s busy school holiday season.
The ability to secure approvals for an added scheduled service at Changi Airport—a facility known for its rigorous operational requirements—demonstrates TransNusa’s commitment to safety, security, and performance standards. It is also a testament to the airline’s agility in responding quickly to shifting market needs while maintaining high levels of operational reliability.
Strengthening Domestic and International Connectivity
While the added Singapore flight is a highlight of the July schedule, TransNusa is also boosting its domestic network to support travelers within Indonesia. Specifically, the airline will increase the frequency of its Jakarta-Singkawang service from four weekly flights to seven, offering daily service to better serve local demand.
The Jakarta-Singkawang flight will depart Soekarno-Hatta at 11:45 a.m. and arrive at Singkawang Airport at 1:25 p.m. The return leg will leave Singkawang at 2:10 p.m. and land back in Jakarta at 3:50 p.m. This increase is designed to provide more reliable options for domestic travelers, whether they are journeying for business, family visits, or tourism.
By strengthening both its international and domestic connectivity, TransNusa continues to position itself as an airline capable of meeting the complex needs of modern travelers. The airline’s approach emphasizes accessibility, comfort, and convenience, ensuring that passengers have more choices and better service across its growing route network.
Expanding International Footprint with New Routes
TransNusa’s network expansion isn’t limited to frequency increases on existing routes. In the first half of 2025, the airline successfully launched two new international connections from its base in Bali: a strategic “golden route” to Perth, Australia, and a service to Guangzhou, China.
These new routes demonstrate TransNusa’s commitment to connecting Indonesia with key international markets while offering travelers direct, premium options for travel between these destinations. The Bali-Guangzhou route, in particular, is designed to provide a short and convenient transit option for travelers planning to continue on to Perth, reinforcing Bali’s status as a critical hub for the airline’s operations.
According to Datuk Bernard Francis, these route additions reflect TransNusa’s strategic approach to understanding passenger trends and preferences. The airline’s business plan prioritizes identifying opportunities to deliver value, comfort, and reliability while responding quickly to market demand and competitive dynamics.
“A New Player with New Rules”
TransNusa’s transformation into a Premium Service Carrier is part of a broader strategy to differentiate itself in the highly competitive Southeast Asian aviation market. By redefining service standards and focusing on customer experience, the airline seeks to stand out as a reliable, high-quality alternative for both domestic and international travelers.
After a significant management change during the COVID-19 pandemic, TransNusa was relaunched with a new vision and upgraded fleet. Since then, the airline has introduced its first international flights and developed a network designed to meet the needs of both business and leisure travelers in the Asia Pacific region.
The company’s commitment to safety, security, and maintenance excellence underpins its ability to expand rapidly while maintaining high standards. Its approach to revenue management and customer service is designed to deliver sustainable growth while building loyalty among travelers who value comfort and reliability over purely low-cost offerings.
Looking Ahead: Growth in the Second Half of 2025
TransNusa is not resting on its recent successes. The airline’s leadership has signaled that the second half of 2025 will bring continued growth, with further plans to expand its network and strengthen its connectivity both domestically and internationally.
Future plans will likely build on the lessons learned from the first half of the year, including the importance of responding to seasonal demand, managing complex operational requirements, and maintaining a high standard of service even as the network expands. The airline’s strategy reflects a flexible, responsive approach that is essential in a dynamic and competitive industry.
With a growing base in Bali and strong operational hubs in Jakarta, TransNusa is well positioned to take advantage of regional travel trends and economic growth. Its continued focus on passenger needs and premium service offerings will be key drivers of its long-term success in Indonesia and beyond.
