IHG Reaches One Million Open Rooms Worldwide

IHG Hotels & Resorts has officially passed a landmark threshold, announcing it now has over one million open hotel rooms across its global portfolio.

The milestone reinforces IHG’s position as one of the world’s leading hospitality companies, with presence in more than 100 countries and an expanding lineup of hotel brands catering to every type of traveler.

The achievement is driven by a solid development pipeline, an extensive brand portfolio, and the success of IHG One Rewards — one of the largest hotel loyalty programs in the world.

Expanding the Footprint of True Hospitality

IHG’s rise to one million open rooms is not just a numbers game. It’s a representation of millions of guest experiences taking place daily — from weddings and reunions to business meetings and solo escapes. With over 6,700 hotels now open, IHG continues to focus on its mission of delivering “True Hospitality for Good.”

“Reaching one million rooms reflects the deep trust and confidence our guests, owners and investors place in IHG and our brands,” said Elie Maalouf, CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts.

“But more than that, it’s a celebration of our colleagues, who help millions of guests live their best lives every single day – be it with a warm welcome the minute they walk through our doors or helping make memories in life’s big events. If it matters in life, it happens in our hotels.

“We’re all excited about the many more special moments our hotels will be a part of in the years ahead. With a strong, growing development pipeline spanning world famous beloved heritage brands and rapidly growing new brands, the future is bright for IHG.”

IHG opened a record number of rooms in the first half of 2025 and has celebrated several key achievements in the past year, including reaching 4,000 open hotels in the US, its 800th open hotel in Greater China as it commemorates its 50th anniversary in the region, and record levels of openings and signings in EMEAA. Looking ahead, IHG has strong momentum, with a development pipeline of over 2,200 hotels set to increase its presence in high growth markets globally.

Major Growth Across Continents

IHG has achieved significant expansion in recent years, with a record number of rooms opened in the first half of 2025 alone. The company has marked key milestones globally, including the opening of its 4,000th hotel in the United States and its 800th in Greater China, which is also celebrating 50 years of IHG presence in the region.

The Europe, Middle East, Asia & Africa (EMEAA) region also saw record levels of hotel openings and signings, highlighting the brand’s momentum across emerging and established markets.

New Openings Signal Brand Diversity

IHG’s milestone coincides with a series of new hotel openings that reflect the diversity of its brand portfolio and commitment to local cultural integration. Each new property is designed to deliver unique experiences, tailored to their destination and guests.
