American Airlines Launches Miami–Bimini Flights

American Airlines will launch new nonstop service between Miami International Airport and South Bimini in February 2026, providing travelers with a direct 30-minute connection to the Bahamian island. The flights will operate three times weekly, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday, departing Miami at 10:05 a.m. and returning from Bimini at 11:40 a.m.

The new route expands access to Bimini just in time for peak holiday travel, beginning on Valentine’s Day and President’s Day weekend. With more than 90 U.S. airports offering direct service into Miami, the flights will make the island easier to reach for travelers across the country. Resorts World Bimini, the island’s largest resort, is preparing to welcome an increase in visitors with its blend of luxury amenities and island experiences.

Increased Connectivity to The Bahamas

American Airlines’ decision to launch the Miami–Bimini service is designed to boost the island’s visibility as a travel destination. The short flight offers an alternative to ferry and charter services, reducing travel time for those seeking a quick island escape. The route is expected to attract travelers looking for spontaneous vacations and convenient weekend getaways.

“This is a huge milestone for Bimini and an opportunity to step into the spotlight as one of The Bahamas’ most exciting destinations,” said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. “Today’s travelers are craving escapes that feel far away yet are easy to reach, and with American Airlines’ new nonstop flights from Miami, paradise is just 30 minutes from takeoff to touch down.”

Resorts World Bimini highlighted that the expanded access comes at a time when interest in The Bahamas continues to rise. “This is a true game-changer for Bimini,” said Victor Karavias, Senior Vice President of Operations. “With American Airlines’ new service, our island is now more accessible than ever, inviting travelers from across the country to experience the natural beauty, rich culture, and warm hospitality that make Bimini so special.”

Resort Offerings and Attractions

Resorts World Bimini offers 305 rooms and suites, two large pools, six bars and restaurants, and a casino with ocean views. The property combines luxury with authentic island culture, featuring access to private beaches, fine dining, and nightlife venues. The recently opened Fisherman’s Village connects guests with local shopping, dining, and excursions, complementing the resort’s appeal as both a leisure and adventure destination.

Guests at the resort can enjoy water activities such as snorkeling and diving, explore Bimini’s cultural history, or relax by the beaches framed by turquoise waters. With its close proximity to South Florida—just 50 nautical miles from the coast—Bimini is positioned as a quick yet transformative getaway.

Strategic Growth in Airlift

The Miami–Bimini service strengthens The Bahamas’ airlift network and builds on other short-haul connections from Fort Lauderdale and Nassau. It also aligns with the expansion strategies of Resorts World Bimini and Genting Americas, which aim to increase the island’s profile as a luxury destination for U.S. travelers.

Owned by Genting Americas, Resorts World Bimini is part of a global network of properties operated by Genting, which manages resorts in Asia, Europe, the United States, and The Bahamas. The company serves more than 50 million visitors annually worldwide, leveraging its experience in travel and leisure to support Bimini’s continued growth as a destination.

With American Airlines’ entry into the Miami–Bimini market, the island will be positioned as one of the most accessible Bahamian destinations, combining convenience with world-class hospitality. The launch underscores Bimini’s growing importance within The Bahamas’ tourism landscape.
