$750 in Travel Perks and Lounge Access — for a Mid-Tier Price

For travelers who want premium perks without a premium price tag, a new airline credit card promises to deliver the best of both worlds.

American Airlines, Citi, and Mastercard have teamed up to launch the Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® — a mid-tier travel card that aims to bridge the gap between everyday rewards and elite travel experiences.

The newly announced card offers over $750 in annual travel and lifestyle benefits for an annual fee of $350, combining exclusive lounge access, companion flight perks, and accelerated earning potential. The partners unveiled the card as part of their expanded collaboration, marking what Citi describes as a “new chapter of innovation” in its nearly four-decade relationship with American Airlines.

“The Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® truly stands out by offering premium value,” said Scott Long, American’s Senior Vice President of AAdvantage®. “It’s built for the travelers who want more from every mile — with elevated benefits, faster path to status and powerful earning potential.”

A Mid-Tier Card With High-End Benefits

Designed to enhance the travel journey from takeoff to landing, the new card introduces features typically reserved for higher-end credit tiers. Each year, members receive four Admirals Club® Globe™ passes, each valid for 24 hours — offering access to nearly 50 lounges worldwide. That alone adds more than $300 in annual value. Cardholders also receive a $99 companion certificate for a round-trip domestic flight, $100 in inflight purchase credits, and a $120 reimbursement for Global Entry® or TSA PreCheck® every four years.

Additional lifestyle perks include an annual $100 “Splurge Credit” applicable to select experiences such as AAdvantage Hotels™, 1stDibs, or Live Nation® events, and up to $240 in annual statement credits through Turo, the car-sharing platform. Travelers also benefit from no foreign transaction fees, preferred boarding, and a free checked bag on domestic American Airlines flights for up to eight companions on the same booking.

According to Pam Habner, Citi’s Head of U.S. Branded Cards and Lending, the card represents “a clear example of how our strategic relationship allows us to bring products to market that tap into the emerging needs and desires of today’s travelers.” She added that the new card “puts premium travel within reach” for those who want tangible rewards and elevated experiences without the high annual fees of top-tier cards.

Rewards That Keep Pace With Modern Travel

Beyond the perks, the AAdvantage Globe™ Mastercard® focuses on accelerating loyalty status and rewards earning. Members can earn 6X AAdvantage® miles on AAdvantage Hotels™ bookings, 3X miles on American Airlines purchases, and 2X miles at restaurants, rideshares, and public transit. Every mile also counts as one Loyalty Point, helping cardholders reach elite AAdvantage® status faster.

One of the most notable features is the new Flight Streak™ bonus, a first in the industry. Cardholders earn 5,000 Loyalty Points after every four qualifying American Airlines flights — up to 15,000 points per year — rewarding frequent travelers with a quicker route to elite perks like complimentary upgrades and priority services.

John Levitsky, Mastercard’s U.S. Co-President, said the partnership underscores Mastercard’s commitment to delivering global value across travel, dining, and entertainment. “With American and Citi, we’re helping travelers access globally connected benefits in categories they appreciate most,” he said.

Bringing Premium Travel Within Reach

The launch of the AAdvantage Globe™ Mastercard® arrives as more travelers look for flexible cards that combine strong earning power with meaningful lifestyle benefits. For mid-tier travelers — those who fly often but not enough to justify luxury card fees — the Globe™ offers an attractive middle ground. It provides the kind of perks that enhance travel comfort while keeping annual costs manageable.

The card also expands Citi’s AAdvantage portfolio, which includes the Platinum Select® and Executive World Elite Mastercard® options, giving travelers more choice based on their frequency, budget, and loyalty goals. For the airlines, it strengthens the AAdvantage ecosystem — one of the industry’s oldest and most popular frequent flyer programs — at a time when competition for loyalty is at an all-time high.

With growing demand for cards that deliver tangible experiences, the Citi® / AAdvantage® Globe™ Mastercard® aims to redefine what “mid-tier” really means. Lounge access, status boosts, and hundreds in annual credits now sit within reach of travelers seeking more value per mile. For many, it could become the next must-have travel companion in their wallet.
