ESPACIO Nagoya Castle offers ultra-luxurious samurai-era accommodation

The ESPACIO Nagoya Castle officially opened in October, ushering in a new era of luxury hospitality in one of Japan’s most historic destinations. This newest addition marks the third ESPACIO brand hotel, following ESPACIO The Jewel of Waikiki and ESPACIO The Hakone Geihinkan Rin-Poh-Ki-Ryu.

Situated across the moat from the 17th-century Nagoya Castle, the former residence of one of the highest-ranking samurai families – the Owari Tokugawa clan for 260 years – ESPACIO Nagoya Castle combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship and contemporary architecture with its angular stone-style base and terraced roofline inspired by classic Japanese castles.

Its central yet tranquil setting places guests within reach of Nagoya’s leading cultural landmarks, including the Tokugawa Art Museum, Atsuta Shrine, and the Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology.

Luxurious guestrooms with hefty price tag

SPACIO Nagoya Castle offers guests an immersive experience with Japanese artistry and tradition.  The 11-storey hotel offers 100 large-sized guest rooms, which feature motifs from the samurai era interpreted with modern materials and forms.  The entry-level Deluxe room comes in at 49 sqm.

Of special mention are six Art Collection suites that were individually created by six renowned local artisans who interweaved Japanese history and tradition, making use of traditional materials such as gold leaf, karakami patterned paper, kumiko woodworking and lacquer.

Offering a more exclusive personal touch, the Onsen Collection suites come with their own in-room hot spring baths.

Room rates average about US$1,300 for one night depending on the season, with the most expensive samurai-themed rooms priced at US$25,400.
