Hilton expands its lifestyle footprint in Türkiye with the official opening of Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim, the brand’s first property in the country, located within the Taksim 360 development in Beyoğlu.

The hotel officially opens its doors in one of Istanbul’s most energetic districts, positioning itself among the regenerated streets of Tarlabaşı and within walking distance of major cultural landmarks.

The opening is marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by Hilton Europe, Middle East and Africa President Simon Vincent, Hilton Continental Europe Senior Vice President David Kelly, and Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim General Manager Can Özmeriç, alongside senior executives and team members.

The property launches with 110 guestrooms, including 15 suites, supported by dining venues, wellness facilities and social spaces designed to reflect the neighbourhood’s layered history and creative character.

A neighbourhood-inspired lifestyle experience

Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim positions itself as more than a conventional hotel, aiming to create a sense of connection between guests and the surrounding district. The design takes inspiration from Beyoğlu’s artistic heritage and the evolving urban fabric of Tarlabaşı, blending contemporary comfort with local craftsmanship. Art Deco accents, terrazzo finishes, custom-made furniture and locally sourced textiles create a refined yet authentic atmosphere.

“We are delighted to open the doors of Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim and welcome our first guests in one of the city’s most vibrant neighbourhoods. This hotel not only represents the transformation of Tarlabaşı and the energy of the Taksim 360 project, but also reflects our passion for bringing Hilton’s signature warmth and hospitality into one of Istanbul’s most historic districts. We are excited to welcome guests on this new journey and invite them to become part of the city’s story,” said Can Özmeriç, General Manager.

Public spaces are designed as social hubs that encourage interaction between travellers and local residents. An internal courtyard connects the restaurant and bar concepts, creating an inviting setting for casual meetings, remote work and evening gatherings. Guests also have access to a 24-hour fitness centre, massage rooms, sauna, steam room and relaxation areas within a boutique wellness centre that supports wellbeing during urban stays.

Dining, art and the revival of Tarlabaşı

Two signature restaurants anchor the hotel’s food and beverage offering. Loya operates as an all-day brasserie opening onto a historic courtyard, drawing inspiration from both Turkish and international cuisines while reflecting Beyoğlu’s multicultural culinary heritage. The venue welcomes guests from breakfast through to evening cocktails, positioning itself as a lively neighbourhood meeting point.

Karas, the second signature venue, occupies a restored historic building originally constructed in 1830 as the Mkhitaryan Armenian School. The wine bar takes its name from the Armenian word meaning “earthenware pot” and repurposes a former cistern into a distinctive wine cellar. Its carefully curated wine selection highlights local producers, paired with chef-driven dishes that celebrate Anatolian flavours.

Art plays a central role in shaping the hotel’s identity. A curated collection of artworks, developed by the ALAN Project art team, extends throughout public and private spaces. Artists from multiple disciplines contribute pieces that reference Istanbul’s multicultural heritage while reflecting the Canopy by Hilton brand’s contemporary and welcoming personality. Individually, each artwork tells a micro-story; together they form a cohesive narrative reflecting the changing face of Beyoğlu.

“The opening of Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim marks a first for our lifestyle brand in Türkiye. The hotel will serve travellers who increasingly seek accommodation that blends quality, design and a strong sense of place. With its unique location in the heart of Istanbul, we believe this property will make a valuable contribution to our lifestyle portfolio in Türkiye,” said David Kelly, Senior Vice President, Continental Europe.

The hotel’s central location enhances its appeal for city explorers. İstiklal Avenue lies approximately 200 metres away, while Taksim Square is about 300 metres from the entrance. Cultural landmarks such as the Pera Museum and Galata Tower are within easy walking distance. The Historic Peninsula, including Hagia Sophia, Topkapı Palace, Sultanahmet Mosque, Basilica Cistern and the Grand Bazaar, is located within 5 km. Guests can access airport shuttle services connecting to Istanbul Airport, 37 km away, and Sabiha Gökçen Airport, 55 km away, within a 5-minute walk, alongside direct access to Taksim Metro Station.

Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim is also part of Hilton Honors, Hilton’s global loyalty programme spanning 25 brands worldwide. Members who book directly benefit from flexible payment options combining points and cash, exclusive discounts and complimentary standard Wi-Fi, supporting Hilton’s strategy of strengthening direct relationships with frequent travellers.

As Tarlabaşı continues its regeneration through the Taksim 360 project, the hotel reflects a broader shift in Istanbul’s hospitality landscape toward boutique-led, neighbourhood-focused experiences. For travellers seeking cultural immersion alongside modern comfort, the opening signals a renewed chapter for one of the city’s most historic and evolving districts.
