Hilton announces the arrival of its Canopy by Hilton brand in Türkiye with two hotel openings this month in Istanbul and Izmir, marking the brand’s debut in the country. The launch introduces Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim with 110 rooms and Canopy by Hilton Izmir Bomonti with 191 rooms, strengthening Hilton’s growing lifestyle portfolio across key Turkish cities.
The openings form part of Hilton’s wider expansion of lifestyle hotels in Türkiye, where demand for design-led, locally inspired accommodation continues to rise. Canopy by Hilton joins the Curio Collection by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton as the company’s lifestyle category now represents a fifth of Hilton’s global development pipeline.
A lifestyle-focused arrival in Istanbul and Izmir
The debut of Canopy by Hilton in Türkiye places a strong emphasis on central locations, neighborhood identity and social spaces that appeal to both travelers and locals. In Istanbul, Canopy by Hilton Istanbul Taksim sits just steps from Taksim Square and Istiklal Avenue, positioning the hotel at the heart of one of the city’s most dynamic districts.
The 110-room property blends contemporary design with references to the cultural heritage of Beyoglu, an area known for its historic buildings, nightlife and creative energy. Guests and residents can access an all-day restaurant serving a mix of Turkish and international cuisine, alongside a wine bar housed within a 150-year-old cistern, linking the hotel’s modern concept with Istanbul’s layered past.
On the Aegean coast, Canopy by Hilton Izmir Bomonti opens within the Mahall Bomonti complex, a mixed-use development that reflects Izmir’s evolving urban character. The 191-room hotel draws inspiration from the Aegean region through natural textures and colours, with guest rooms and social spaces designed to mirror the relaxed but creative spirit of the Bomonti neighbourhood.
The Izmir property features locally influenced dining venues and vibrant communal areas intended to act as gathering points for visitors and residents alike. Bomonti, once an industrial area, has re-emerged as a cultural and social hub, making it a fitting setting for Canopy’s neighborhood-driven approach.
“As we celebrate Hilton’s 70th anniversary in Türkiye, we see tremendous growth in demand for quality lifestyle accommodation from both guests and hotel owners,” said Michael Collini, Vice President, Development, Central and Eastern Europe, Hilton. “With travellers increasingly seeking stays that blend quality, design, and local character, our lifestyle brands are resonating strongly and now represent a fifth of our pipeline.”
Türkiye at the centre of Hilton’s lifestyle expansion
The arrival of Canopy by Hilton follows a period of rapid growth for Hilton’s lifestyle brands in Türkiye. Earlier this year, Hilton introduced the Tapestry Collection by Hilton to the country with the opening of The Ritus Hotel Istanbul Sultanahmet, adding another design-focused option in a historic district popular with international visitors.
Hilton also continues to expand its Curio Collection by Hilton footprint, including the recent opening of Altunizade Suites Istanbul, the city’s second Curio Collection property. Together, these hotels reflect a broader strategy to offer distinctive stays that balance global brand standards with local storytelling.
According to Hilton, the number of lifestyle hotels trading or in development in Türkiye has tripled in just three years, rising from five in 2022. In 2025 alone, the company will have opened four lifestyle properties across its Canopy by Hilton, Curio Collection by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton brands.
“From vibrant urban escapes to culturally rich destinations, we’re proud to be expanding our footprint with properties that reflect the spirit of their surroundings and deliver memorable guest experiences,” said Michael Collini, Vice President, Development, Central and Eastern Europe, Hilton. “It is hugely exciting to welcome the Canopy by Hilton brand to Türkiye, with two fantastic properties in the key cities of Istanbul and Izmir.”
Looking ahead, Hilton has nine additional lifestyle hotels in development across Türkiye, with five scheduled to open next year. These include Hilton’s first cave hotel, Elika Cave Suites Cappadocia, Curio Collection by Hilton, as well as new Curio Collection and Tapestry Collection properties in Istanbul and Izmir.
As Türkiye continues to attract travellers seeking experiences rooted in design, culture and place, Hilton’s expansion signals growing confidence in the country’s urban and regional hotel markets. For Canopy by Hilton, the twin launches in Istanbul and Izmir mark the beginning of a broader presence in a destination where local character and contemporary travel increasingly go hand in hand.
