Hilton Opens Its First Hawai‘i Curio Resort on Kaua‘i This October

Hilton has opened reservations for its first Curio Collection by Hilton property in Hawai‘i, with Hale Hōkūala Kaua‘i set to welcome guests from October 1, 2026.

The new lifestyle resort on the island of Kaua‘i will feature 210 guest rooms, including 23 suites, and marks the arrival of the Curio Collection brand in the Aloha State. The resort is located near Līhuʻe Airport within the Hōkūala Resort community and will offer views of Nāwiliwili Bay, Hāʻupu Mountain and the Ocean Course at Hōkūala.

Hilton said the resort is designed to reflect Hawaiian culture and the natural landscape of Kaua‘i through open-air architecture, local design influences and outdoor-focused guest experiences.

“From the moment guests arrive, Hale Hōkūala Kaua‘i will immerse them in the spirit of our culture,” said Jon Itoga, general manager, Hale Hōkūala Kaua‘i.

“As part of Curio Collection by Hilton, the resort will offer a distinctive, locally inspired experience rooted in thoughtful design and Hawaiian hospitality. More than a place to stay, it will serve as a welcoming home base for guests to explore and connect with Kaua‘i on their own terms,” he added.

The property was designed by architecture firm Hart Howerton in collaboration with AHL, formerly known as Architects Hawaii Ltd. Interiors were created by Looney & Associates.

The resort takes inspiration from traditional Hawaiian-style bungalows, combining contemporary interiors with large private lānais, natural materials and open pathways integrated into the surrounding tropical landscape.

Guest rooms are designed with nature-inspired colour palettes reflecting sand, greenery, sky and water. Spa-style bathrooms will include walk-in showers or soaking tubs, while selected rooms will overlook the Pacific Ocean, golf course or surrounding mountains.

Hale Hōkūala Kaua‘i will also include a Portuguese and Hawaiian-inspired signature restaurant, outdoor swimming pool with pool bar, fitness centre, tennis and pickleball courts, and nearly 13,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space.

Guests will have access to the Ocean Course at Hōkūala, a Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, along with walking trails, cycling paths and The Farm at Hōkūala, which focuses on preserving traditional Hawaiian canoe plants important to local ecosystems.

The resort’s location near Līhuʻe Airport places visitors within reach of some of Kaua‘i’s best-known attractions, including Hanalei Bay, Princeville, Waimea Canyon and Kōkeʻe State Park.

Often referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” Waimea Canyon attracts visitors with dramatic landscapes, hiking trails and panoramic viewpoints.

Hilton said travellers booking the resort can also access the company’s “Experience the Stay” package, which includes a US$50 on-property credit, premium Wi-Fi, early check-in, late check-out and early departure options where available.

The property will participate in the Hilton Honors loyalty programme, which covers Hilton’s portfolio of 28 hotel brands worldwide.

The opening comes as Hawai‘i continues to attract strong demand for luxury and lifestyle travel experiences, particularly on Kaua‘i, which is known for its lush scenery, outdoor activities and slower-paced atmosphere compared with O‘ahu and Maui.
