Taj Hospitality Expands to Europe with Iconic Frankfurt Hotel

Taj Hotel Hessischer Hof signing

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), the leading hospitality company in India, has announced its expansion into Continental Europe with the acquisition of the Taj Hotel Hessischer Hof in Frankfurt, Germany.

This landmark hotel, after undergoing extensive renovations, will join the prestigious roster of iconic Taj hotels globally and is set to reopen its doors in 2025.

Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, the CEO of IHCL, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, "Frankfurt, with its dynamic and vibrant nature, is one of Europe's prime destinations. We are honored to establish our presence in such a historic structure and are eager to unveil it with renewed grandeur.” He further emphasized the significance of bringing the renowned Taj hospitality to Frankfurt in collaboration with Peakside.

The Taj Hotel Hessischer Hof, built in 1952 on the site of a former city palace, was previously owned and operated by the Prince of Hessia. It boasts 134 rooms and enjoys a strategic location near the Frankfurt trade fair grounds, one of Germany's largest convention and meeting spaces.

Boris Schran, Managing Partner at Peakside, shared his vision for the hotel, emphasizing that it would redefine luxury hotel standards in Frankfurt, marking it as the first Taj hotel in continental Europe.

The hotel's refurbishment will seamlessly blend modern design elements while preserving the historic architectural essence. Additionally, the renowned Bombay Brasserie restaurant, celebrated for its diverse Bombay and Indian cuisine, will make its debut in Frankfurt. The hotel will also feature The Chambers, India's premier business club, and the legendary Jimmy’s Bar. The hotel's amenities will include elegant banqueting spaces, a spa, fitness area, and a winter garden.

Simon Lutz, Partner at Peakside, highlighted the immense interest the Hessischer Hof garnered from top hotel operators. He credited IHCL's longstanding reputation as a luxury hotel operator as a pivotal factor in their decision to collaborate.

Frankfurt, known as Germany's financial heart, is a pivotal center for business, culture, education, and tourism, housing numerous global and European corporate headquarters.
