Istanbul To Host High-Level Executives from Italy’s Tourism Industry in Coming Weeks

The annual general meeting of the Welcome Travel Group S.p.A., one of the biggest tour operators in Italy, will be held in Istanbul with the initiatives of Turkey’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Turkish Airlines and TÜROB – Hotel Association of Turkey and contributions of sector associations.

The annual meeting will bring about one thousand executives to Istanbul. The event which will take place in February 2019, will be held at Istanbul Lutfi Kırdar – ICEC. Istanbul Convention Exhibition Center – ICEC is located at the center where the business, culture and art worlds meet. Istanbul Lutfi Kırdar – ICEC is located in the heart of the Congress Valley of the city.

TÜROB Vice President Müberra Eresin said, “Welcome Travel Group S.p.A. has over 600 sales offices throughout Italy. Most of the executives from those offices will convene in Istanbul next month. This event will be one of the most comprehensive meetings to be held in Istanbul in recent years. Although 1,000 delegates may not be much but the fact that the Congress was taken to Istanbul is strategically very important. The event may be the pioneer of Istanbul’s return to the bright congress days. We expect it to bring morale to the sector.”

“The event can also pave the way to drive Istanbul to be recognized again as a leading meeting and convention destination in near future,” added Ms. Eresin.

Ms. Eresin also informed about another event at the end of January. “With the initiatives of the Ministry’s Rome Culture and Tourism Counsellor Serra Aytun Roncaglia, Turkish Airlines Rome Office Manager Mustafa Hakan Yilmaz, and TÜROB, Istanbul will welcome Italy’s top executives for the General Board Meeting of Italy Tourism Federation. About 30 CEOs of the biggest tourism companies of Italy will attend the meeting in Istanbul.”

These two meetings are expected to strengthen Turkey – Italy tourism relations.
