Acadia National Park

5 Spring Travel Destinations for Adventurous People

If your idea of a holiday is not lying by a touristy pool and reading a book, there are a wide variety of adventurous destinations you can visit instead. For a thrill-seeking adventure off the beaten track, check out the following best places to travel to this spring.

Acadia National Park

Acadia National Park is situated on the breathtakingly beautiful Mount Desert Island, in Maine, in the United States. Tall mountains surround the rugged island, and it’s the ideal place for enjoying outdoor activities, like fishing, rowing, and swimming. For the truly adventurous, you can do via ferrata climbing at many spots throughout the park. By using ladders and cables attached to rocks, you can travel via a protected route to explore the magnificent scenery. Many of the national park’s roads are closed during winter, so spring and summer are the perfect times to visit Mount Desert Island.

If you’re still in the mood for climbing after you visit the national park, why not give a climbing video game a go? You will have lots of fun playing the Steam Tower slot game. Its main feature is the tower-climbing free spins game. Prime your grappling hook and start ascending the tower to access free-spin bonuses by landing on wilds, which grow each time you climb. You can play Steam Tower, and a wide variety of other fun games, at Casumo casino.

Bagan

Bagan in Myanmar is well-known for its ancient Buddhist temples and sprawling landscape. The city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and there is no better way of seeing it than from high up in a hot air balloon. You will gently fly over Bagan’s temples and nearby villages, to have an unparalleled view of the gorgeous landscape. Also, there is no designated landing spot for balloons, so you never know where you will end your journey. Hot air ballooning over Bagan is an activity that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

Galápagos Islands

Located over 600 miles off the coast of South America, in the Pacific Ocean, the 19 Galápagos Islands are unlike anywhere else in the world. Due to the confluence of three different ocean currents, the islands’ waters are a melting pot of distinctive marine creatures, such as sleeping sharks and sea lions. Due to the Galápagos Islands’ extensive volcanic activity and extreme isolation, many unusual land-based animals can be found, including the marine iguana, the Galápagos penguin, the flamingo, various types of finch, and the famous giant tortoise. The creatures of the Galápagos Islands inspired Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution after he visited the islands in 1835. The islands are an adventure waiting to happen. As well as hiking opportunities under beautiful tree-canopies, you can enjoy thrill-seeking activities like boating, surfing, snorkelling and diving.

Etosha National Park and the Skeleton Coast

Adventurous tourists will love getting up close and personal to big wild animals at Etosha National Park in Namibia. The country is committed to conservation, and 40% of the southwestern coast-side of Namibia is under conservation management. At the national park, you have the opportunity to see lions, elephants, and large populations of free-roaming cheetahs and black rhinos.

As well as the park’s safari opportunities, the northern Skeleton Coast is also a must-visit place for the adventurous. You won’t forget the dramatic sand-dunes of the Skeleton Coast in a hurry, especially if you book a trip to go sand sledging or sandboarding. The coastal city of Swakopmund is the best starting point for booking activity-trips to the dunes.

Poco Azul

Meaning “little blue” in English, Poco Azul will certainly not leave you a little blue after your visit. Indeed, you are more likely to be blown away in awe at the beauty of the place. The pristine turquoise-coloured underground cavern pool is hidden away in deep forest in Achadinha on São Miguel Island, Brazil. The enchanted gem of a place is like something out of a fairy tale, and only those who are brave enough to make the treacherous journey are allowed to see its delights. You will have to hike several miles to discover the charm of Poco Azul. If you are looking to visit an off the beaten track place this spring, Poco Azul is the destination for you.
