Appellation Healdsburg has officially opened as the flagship property of the culinary-first hospitality brand co-founded by Michelin-starred chef Charlie Palmer and hospitality executive Christopher Hunsberger. The 108-room resort introduces two Charlie Palmer restaurants, Folia Bar & Kitchen and Andys Beeline Rooftop, a Terroir Spa, and more than 15,000 square feet of event space.
The resort is designed to immerse guests in Sonoma County’s food, wine, and agricultural traditions. Spread across 8.5 acres, the property combines agrarian-inspired accommodations, wellness facilities, and a calendar of hands-on workshops led by local artisans under the Crafted at Appellation program.
Resort Design and Facilities
Developed in collaboration with architect John Hill and EDG Design, Appellation Healdsburg is divided into two neighborhoods linked by gardens, paths, and gathering spaces. The resort includes two pools: Foss Pool with day-use cabanas and a poolside culinary hub called Water Shed, and Serenity Pool adjacent to the spa and fitness studio.
Guestrooms range from 325 to 1,160 square feet, with floor-to-ceiling doors leading to patios or balconies. Suites include larger living spaces and views of surrounding vineyards. Rooms are furnished with local products, 300-thread count linens, and agrarian-inspired design elements.
Culinary Venues
Folia Bar & Kitchen, located in the Main House, features progressive American cooking with dishes prepared over live oak embers. Chef de Cuisine Reed Palmer, a Healdsburg native, directs the kitchen. The menu sources ingredients from local partners including Hog Island Oyster Co. and Feed Sonoma. The restaurant also features a live charcuterie station and an expansive wine cellar.
Andys Beeline Rooftop offers vineyard views and a menu of shareable plates, cocktails, and zero-proof beverages. The design includes a dramatic onyx bar, bee-inspired patterns, and lounge seating. Menu items include Tsar Nicoulai Caviar with egg yolk jam and Kanpachi Ceviche.
Spa and Wellness
The Terroir Spa offers treatments influenced by the local environment, incorporating products from international brands such as InLight and Saya alongside Eminence. Facilities include five treatment rooms, a couple’s suite, a relaxation space, and contrast therapy experiences.
Events and Community Programs
The property introduces the largest luxury event space in downtown Healdsburg, with 11 venues. The Grange serves as the centerpiece, combining indoor-outdoor capacity with a demonstration kitchen. The Lawn accommodates up to 500 guests. Private dining options include Atelier Alyse and Joan’s Table, situated beneath century-old olive trees.
Through Crafted at Appellation, guests can take part in workshops such as cheesemaking, sourdough baking, and cocktail preparation. More than 50 classes are scheduled annually across the resort’s dedicated maker rooms and gardens.
“Appellation Healdsburg signifies a major milestone for our brand as the first hotel we’ve conceived and created entirely from the ground up,” said Christopher Hunsberger, co-founder and COO of Appellation. “Guests can now experience the property firsthand and understand our vision for hospitality fully realized.”
“The debut of Appellation Healdsburg is more than an opening — it’s the beginning of a new standard for hospitality,” said Charlie Palmer, co-founder and CEO of Appellation. “Here, the ingredients lead the experience.”
Overnight rates at Appellation Healdsburg begin at $509 per night. The property is positioned as a gateway to Sonoma County, offering proximity to vineyards, redwoods, the Pacific coast, and outdoor recreation in the Russian River, Dry Creek, and Alexander Valleys.
