Blue Reef Beach Resort enters a new era as The Belize Collection takes over

Blue Reef Beach Resort and Marina in Placencia enters a new chapter as The Belize Collection officially takes over management of the beachfront property, formerly known as Robert’s Grove Beach Resort.

The transition covers Blue Reef Beach Resort, Blue Reef Island, the marina and 2 on-site restaurants, with operations continuing without interruption.

Announced on January 12, 2026, the move expands The Belize Collection’s growing portfolio across Southern Belize and comes with a limited-time incentive for travellers: a 30% introductory rate on Pool View Suites. The company says the change signals renewed investment in guest experience, local culture and long-term sustainability for one of Placencia’s best-known resorts.

A familiar resort, a refreshed vision

Blue Reef now joins The Belize Collection’s portfolio alongside flagship properties such as The Rainforest Lodge at Sleeping Giant and The Lodge at Jaguar Reef. The group positions itself around authentic Belizean experiences and elevated resort stays, with a management philosophy that prioritises connection to place, local talent and community partnerships.

That approach will shape how the resort evolves over the coming months. Guests can expect enhanced operational standards and gradual updates across accommodations, dining and marina services, while the resort continues welcoming travellers throughout the transition period.

“We are excited to steward Blue Reef Resort into its next phase, building on its legacy while introducing the level of care and consistency that defines our brand,” said Ian Lizarraga, Managing Partner of The Belize Collection.

The rebranding also keeps a strong link to Placencia’s long-standing tourism appeal. Known for its relaxed beach culture, access to the Belize Barrier Reef and laid-back village atmosphere, the peninsula remains a favourite for snorkelling, diving, fishing and island-hopping. Blue Reef’s beachfront setting and marina make it a convenient base for both water adventures and slow-paced coastal stays.

Dining, deals and what travellers can expect

Food plays a central role in the relaunch. Executive Chef Rahim Melendez will guide the resort’s culinary direction, bringing his creative approach to flavour, technique and storytelling through food. The goal is to elevate on-site dining while keeping a sense of place rooted in Belizean ingredients and traditions.

For travellers considering a visit, the headline incentive is the special 30% introductory rate on Pool View Suites, available for a limited time. While the resort has not released an end date for the promotion, the offer positions Blue Reef as a competitive option for travellers seeking beachfront value in Belize during peak planning season.

The Belize Collection says further announcements will follow in the coming months as updates roll out across the property. In the meantime, Blue Reef Resort and Marina continues operating as normal, allowing returning guests to experience familiar surroundings alongside early signs of change.

For the Placencia tourism community, the takeover signals confidence in the destination’s long-term appeal and its ability to attract international travellers looking for sun, sea and authentic local experiences. For visitors, it presents an opportunity to revisit a classic resort under new stewardship — and potentially secure a compelling launch deal while the transformation begins.
