A video, which was posted November 14 posted on Weibo, a popular social networking site in China, shows hidden-camera footage of cleaning staff at several international luxury hotels in China.
The 11-minute video shows housekeeping staff using the same cleaning sponge to clean cups, sinks, toilet and shower.
Following the video went viral on the Internet with over 29 million views and elicited tens of thousands of comments and shares, many leading hospitality companies including Bulgari Hotel Shanghai, Shangri-La, The Ritz-Carlton Hotel, and The Park Hyatt in Beijing have all apologized and vowed to strengthen its housekeeping standards.
