Four Seasons Expands in Japan with New Osaka Hotel

The newest addition to Four Seasons’ growing portfolio of luxury hotels in Japan has arrived in Osaka, blending contemporary design with traditional Japanese elements.

The all-new Four Seasons Hotel Osaka has officially opened its doors, welcoming guests to experience an elevated standard of hospitality in one of Japan’s most dynamic cities.

A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Modernity

Nestled within the innovative One Dojima building, Four Seasons Hotel Osaka is more than just a place to stay; it’s an experience that encapsulates the spirit of Osaka. The hotel’s interiors, designed by renowned Japanese studios CURIOSITY, SIMPLICITY, and DESIGN STUDIO SPIN, artfully combine modern luxury with elements of traditional Japanese aesthetics. Every detail, from the tatami mat-covered floors to the washi paper headboards, has been meticulously crafted to offer a serene yet sophisticated atmosphere.

Rainer Stampfer, Four Seasons President of Global Operations, Hotels and Resorts, highlighted the hotel’s unique appeal: “With each new hotel opening, we strive to create new and exciting experiences grounded in our genuine care and personalized service, while embracing the unique destinations in which we operate. The Four Seasons Hotel Osaka uniquely features a contemporary ryokan experience, dazzling city views from all rooms, and authentic Chinese cuisine in a stylish setting.”

Introducing Osaka’s First Luxury Ryokan Experience

One of the standout features of the hotel is the GENSUI 玄水 floor, offering guests a luxurious ryokan experience in the heart of Osaka. As guests step off the elevator on the 28th floor, they are greeted with the warm hospitality of Four Seasons staff, a cup of green tea, and the option to walk on traditional rush-grass tatami mats. This floor is a modern homage to Japanese customs, featuring low-slung seating, sliding doors, and futon-style sleeping platforms that create a peaceful retreat amidst the city’s hustle and bustle.

Guests on the GENSUI floor also enjoy exclusive access to the SABO tea lounge, where bento-style breakfasts, traditional tea rituals, and evening sake and wine provide a taste of authentic Japanese culture.

Alastair McAlpine, General Manager of the hotel, shared his vision: “Osaka is fast becoming a new favourite among regional and global travellers, and our mission is to showcase the city’s treasures – both well-known and hidden gems – while also offering the city’s most relaxed and engaging luxury hospitality experience.”

Culinary Excellence and Spectacular Views

Dining at Four Seasons Hotel Osaka is an experience in itself, with several unique venues offering a range of culinary delights. The signature restaurant, Jiang Nan Chun, serves authentic Cantonese cuisine in a setting that combines traditional flavors with modern presentations. Guests can enjoy barbecue specialties and the restaurant’s famous roast duck, carved tableside under the backdrop of Osaka’s glittering skyline.

On the 37th floor, Bar Bota offers a sophisticated cocktail experience, blending Osaka’s vibrant cultural heritage with a global perspective. Head Bartender Andrei Marcu crafts bespoke cocktails using local botanicals and premium Japanese whiskeys, providing an unforgettable experience for guests.

The hotel also features Jardin, a garden-inspired space offering international cuisine throughout the day, from semi-buffet breakfasts to classic French dinners. Additional venues include Farine, an artisanal bakery, and CHA, a tranquil tea room exclusive to hotel guests.

A Sanctuary in the Sky: Spa and Wellness

Occupying the entire 36th floor, The Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Osaka is a sanctuary of relaxation and rejuvenation. With sweeping views of the city, guests can unwind in one of five treatment rooms or enjoy the healing properties of traditional Japanese baths and saunas. The spa also features a 16-meter indoor pool that appears to flow into Osaka’s scenic waterways, enhancing the sense of tranquility.

Signature treatments include a 100-minute high-performance facial inspired by Empress Kōmyō and a series of bath rituals using seasonal herbs. For those with a busy schedule, the spa offers quick replenishment sessions, allowing guests to refresh and recharge in as little as 15 to 30 minutes.
