Hyatt Hotels Corporation and Hongkong Land revealed today that a Hyatt affiliate has entered a management agreement with Hongkong Land for the establishment of Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu.
The hotel, set to open its doors in 2025 in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, will usher the Hyatt Centric lifestyle brand into China’s southwest region. This strategic move demonstrates Hyatt’s ongoing commitment to diversify its lifestyle portfolio in popular leisure destinations.
Hyatt Centric hotels have earned a reputation as the ideal launchpad for travelers with a penchant for adventure. With the Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu positioned right in the midst of the city’s vibrant downtown, guests can anticipate an immersive experience. The hotel will become a part of ‘The Ring’, an upscale commercial development by Hongkong Land. This project brings together premium office spaces, a luxury shopping hub, and a lifestyle hotel, setting the stage for a multi-faceted urban experience.
The hotel’s location holds historical significance. Situated near the Southeast Second Ring Road on Dong Da Road, it stands on the grounds of the famed Chengdu Pancheng steel pipe factory – a site that once was the city’s industrial heart. Today, the area symbolizes the city’s evolution from its industrial roots to a contemporary hub for business, shopping, and leisure. The hotel’s design is expected to reflect this transition, drawing inspiration from the neighborhood’s industrial history while offering a chic modern setting.
Stephen Ho, president of growth and operations, Asia Pacific, Hyatt, expressed enthusiasm over the partnership with Hongkong Land, “Chengdu, with its deep cultural roots and gastronomic appeal, continues to attract global tourists. Given Hyatt Centric’s emphasis on genuine local experiences, Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu promises to be the go-to place for travelers wanting to dive deep into Chengdu’s spirit.”
Reflecting on the collaboration, a spokesperson from Hongkong Land commented, “Hyatt Centric East CBD Chengdu symbolizes our maiden venture with a third-party hotel management firm. We envision ‘The Ring’ to be a pinnacle of business, shopping, and recreation. Given our track record of developing upscale properties across Asia and Hyatt’s innovative hospitality approach, we are confident that this establishment will emerge as a top choice for both business and leisure travelers.”
