Airbus Rushes to Fix A320 Jets After Global Safety Alert

Airbus announces that most of the nearly 6,000 A320 Family aircraft identified in a recent safety alert have now undergone precautionary modifications, following an Alert Operators Transmission issued on 28 November. The company confirms that fewer than 100 aircraft worldwide still require updates before returning to service.

The measures respond to Airbus’ call for immediate action on specific in-service A320 Family jets, prompting airlines across multiple regions to adjust operations. The manufacturer says it is working closely with carriers and authorities to complete the remaining work.

Global Fleet Nears Completion of Precautionary Measures

Airbus states that the “vast majority” of potentially affected aircraft have already been modified as required under the Alert Operators Transmission. The company apologises for disruption linked to the event and acknowledges operational challenges faced by passengers and airlines.

In its update, the manufacturer emphasises its coordination with customers to support the final tranche of modifications. According to Airbus, safety considerations guided the decision to issue the initial alert and subsequent instructions.

Airbus Thanks Stakeholders for Support

Airbus expresses appreciation to airlines, authorities, employees and other involved parties for their cooperation in implementing the safety measures. “Airbus apologises for any challenges and delays caused to passengers and airlines by this event,” the company said. It added that it thanked “its customers, the authorities, its employees and all relevant stakeholders involved for their support in implementing these measures, and for their understanding of Airbus’ decision to put safety above all other considerations.”

The company reports ongoing progress as airlines complete the final inspections and modifications needed to return the remaining aircraft to service. The global A320 Family fleet is one of the world’s most widely used narrowbody aircraft, operated across short- and medium-haul routes in every major region.
