SAS and Aeromexico announce a new codeshare agreement effective December 1, 2025, expanding travel options between Scandinavia and Mexico through enhanced connectivity across North America. The partnership allows both airlines to offer wider route access ahead of travel commencing on December 6.
The agreement enables SAS passengers to reach Mexico City International Airport (MEX) from Copenhagen, Stockholm, and Oslo via major U.S. and Canadian gateways, while Aeromexico customers gain streamlined access to SAS destinations across Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Both airlines say the move strengthens their networks and improves convenience for travelers.
Expanded Access Across North America and Scandinavia
SAS customers will be able to connect to Mexico City through 10 North American hubs, including San Francisco, Boston, Newark, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Miami, Washington D.C., and Toronto. Aeromexico passengers, in turn, gain new one-stop access to Scandinavian cities served by SAS.
Announcing the agreement, Paul Verhagen, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, said the partnership “strengthens SAS’ main hub in Copenhagen and provides access to several destinations in Mexico.” He added that travelers can reach Mexico City, Guadalajara, Cancun, and a wide range of cultural destinations, noting SAS’ “reliable operations and strong on-time performance.”
Enhanced Benefits for Loyalty Members
Under the new arrangement, passengers benefit from single-ticket itineraries and through-checked baggage. Members of SAS EuroBonus and Aeromexico Rewards gain reciprocal SkyTeam privileges, including the ability to earn and redeem points, priority boarding, and lounge access.
Giancarlo Mulinelli, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Aeromexico, said the agreement “allows us to bring our customers closer to a wider variety of destinations, as well as attracting travelers from Scandinavia to the wide range of tourist attractions that Mexico has to offer.” He noted that Aeromexico now has codeshare agreements with 14 partner airlines, underscoring its commitment to expanding global connectivity.
The carriers say the deal increases choice and convenience for passengers traveling between the two regions, while reinforcing SAS’ broader strategy of building partnerships with global airlines. The move follows recent collaborations with Vietnam Airlines and WestJet, further expanding the Scandinavian carrier’s international reach.
