Batik Air, in partnership with Jiangsu TopView Cultural Tourism Industry Development Co. Ltd., has embarked on a significant expansion of charter flights between Malaysia and China.
This strategic initiative was unveiled in a signing ceremony witnessed by YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Malaysia’s Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, paving the way for enhanced travel connectivity.
The agreement introduces four new routes, connecting Nanning with Kuala Lumpur and linking Shanghai, Chengdu, and Shenzhen to Tawau.
This expansion builds on the success of earlier charters designed to accommodate the surge in travel during the Chinese New Year and spring festival holiday season.
Dato Sri Tiong King Sing expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting its potential to boost Chinese tourist arrivals in Malaysia.
The partnership not only signifies a closer bond between the two nations but also aligns with Malaysia’s efforts to position itself as a premier destination for Chinese travelers.
The initiative follows proactive endeavors by Malaysia’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, including a sales mission to China led by the Minister.
This, combined with the introduction of visa-free entry for Chinese visitors from December 2023, has sparked increased interest in Malaysia as a travel destination.
In 2023, Malaysia experienced a dramatic increase in visitors from China, with 1.47 million arrivals, representing a 593.4% jump from the previous year.
This growth highlights Malaysia’s growing appeal as a preferred destination for Chinese tourists.
