easyJet has launched a new three-aircraft base in Marrakech, marking a major expansion of its operations in Morocco and adding 6 new routes alongside year-round connectivity on existing services. The base, opened during an event attended by senior tourism and aviation officials, will enable the airline to offer a record 4 million seats in its first year.
The new permanent base supports the launch of routes from Prague, Newcastle and Zurich to Marrakech, now on sale for winter 2026, with additional services from Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir and Birmingham to Agadir set to go on sale later this spring. Several routes including Lille, Strasbourg and Hamburg to Marrakech will also operate year-round.
The base launch forms part of a long-term partnership between easyJet and the Moroccan National Tourist Office signed in autumn 2025. It strengthens the airline’s position as the second-largest carrier in Marrakech and reinforces its wider presence across Morocco.
The expansion is expected to create around 100 direct jobs and thousands of indirect roles, while supporting Morocco’s tourism sector through increased connectivity and capacity.
Kenton Jarvis, CEO of easyJet, said, “We couldn’t be happier to launch our base in Morocco for our 20th year of operations in the country and to mark the milestone of 20 million passengers flown over that time. This is a milestone for our development in the region, providing more travel opportunities than ever before for our airline and holidays customers, while contributing to the local economy through tourism and the jobs we are creating.”
New winter routes from Prague to Marrakech will begin on 25 October with 2 weekly flights, while Zurich to Marrakech starts on 28 October with 2 weekly services. Newcastle to Marrakech will launch on 3 November 2026, also operating twice weekly.
Additional routes from Nantes to Essaouira, Bordeaux to Agadir and Birmingham to Agadir will become available for booking later this spring, further expanding easyJet’s network across Morocco.
New summer services are also being introduced, including Hamburg to Marrakech from 1 May 2026, which will continue through winter with twice-weekly flights. Routes from Lille and Strasbourg to Marrakech will both begin on 3 May 2026, while Geneva to Tangier started on 30 March 2026.
easyJet’s growth is also boosting its holidays division, with Morocco emerging as one of the fastest-growing destinations for package holidays. In Marrakech, easyJet holidays now offers more than 70 hotels ranging from three to five stars, including options within its Luxury Collection launched in the United Kingdom in October 2025.
The airline began operations in Morocco in 2006 and now serves 5 airports across the country, including Marrakech, Agadir, Rabat, Essaouira and Tangier. It operates 47 routes in total and remains the largest carrier to Morocco from the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
