Heathrow Airport Expands oneworld Network With Alaska Airlines Flights

The oneworld Alliance is expanding its presence at London Heathrow Airport as Alaska Airlines launches new nonstop flights between Seattle and London from 22 May 2026.

The new service increases oneworld’s Heathrow membership to 14 airlines. This summer, oneworld carriers will operate nearly 2,800 weekly departures from Heathrow, connecting passengers to more than 160 destinations across over 60 countries.

oneworld said around 29 million passengers travelled from, to or through Heathrow on member airlines last year. Nearly 30 percent of those travellers connected between oneworld airlines at the airport.

London also continues to dominate Round the World travel demand within the alliance. oneworld said 71 percent of Round the World bookings made this year on oneworld.com include London as part of a multi-stop itinerary.

Passengers flying with oneworld airlines at Heathrow have access to 13 First and Business Class lounges across Terminals 3, 4 and 5. Lounge operators include British Airways, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qantas and Qatar Airways.

“With service from the most oneworld carriers and nearly 400 daily departures, London Heathrow is a cornerstone of our global network, where our members work together to deliver smooth connectivity for millions of customers every year,” said Ole Orvér, CEO of oneworld.

“It is also one of the world’s leading business travel markets, with more than 160,000 premium seats offered weekly by our airlines, and we are delighted to welcome Alaska Airlines as it launches its inaugural Seattle service from Heathrow, further expanding travel choices for oneworld customers.”

Alaska Airlines said the new route strengthens its international offering and improves onward connections for passengers travelling through Heathrow.

“As we launch service to London, we’re proud to further strengthen the value of our oneworld membership for guests,” said Brett Catlin, Vice President of Loyalty, Partnerships and International at Alaska Airlines.

“As one of the world’s most important international gateways, London opens up even more seamless options for our guests to connect onward across Europe and beyond through the oneworld alliance.”

Heathrow executives said the airport remains a key global hub for the alliance, particularly for business and connecting traffic.

“At Heathrow, we are proud to be the UK’s gateway to the world and the most served global hub for the oneworld alliance,” said Ross Baker, Chief Customer Officer at Heathrow.

“Our strong partnership gives passengers more choice, easier connections and a smoother journey every step of the way. The arrival of Alaska Airlines’ new Seattle service brings even more option for travellers, whether they’re visiting friends and family or travelling for business.”

At Heathrow, oneworld airlines operate across three terminals. Terminal 3 hosts Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas, Royal Jordanian and SriLankan Airlines.

Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Oman Air and Royal Air Maroc operate from Terminal 4, while British Airways and Iberia serve passengers from Terminal 5.

Outside London, oneworld’s next largest global hubs include Dallas/Fort Worth, Doha, Tokyo Narita and New York JFK, each served by 11 alliance member airlines.
