Iberia has clinched the title of the world’s most punctual airline as the new year begins.
This accolade comes from the latest rankings by Cirium, a renowned international consultancy.
In January alone, Iberia achieved an impressive on-time arrival rate of 87.3% across its 14,152 flights. This performance has catapulted the airline to the forefront of punctuality among its global counterparts. The competition in this category is fierce, with only the airlines boasting the largest Seat-Kilometer-Availability (ASK) and operations across at least three regions qualifying.
Rafael Jiménez Hoyos, Iberia’s Director of Production, expressed immense pride in this achievement. He attributed the success to the dedication and hard work of the Iberia team, who ensure the smooth operation of the airline’s complex logistics.
Achieving such high punctuality rates is even more commendable given the operational challenges Iberia faced in January. These difficulties stemmed from a strike by the airline’s handling staff, as highlighted by Cirium.
This recognition marks a significant step up from Iberia’s performance in 2023. Last year, it was ranked as the second most punctual airline in Europe and fifth worldwide. Iberia’s consistent improvement in punctuality underscores its commitment to providing reliable service to its passengers.
