JetBlue to launch $49 flights to Florida’s Emerald Coast next spring

For travelers dreaming of soft white sand and emerald-green waters, getting there is about to get easier — and cheaper. Starting next spring, JetBlue will launch new nonstop service to Florida’s Emerald Coast, connecting Destin–Fort Walton Beach Airport with New York and Boston for as little as $49 one-way.

The airline announced that flights will begin on March 5, 2026, operating five days a week from both John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Boston Logan International Airport (BOS). The new routes extend JetBlue’s rapidly growing Florida network, which has added more than 30 new routes this year alone, including upcoming service to Vero Beach and Daytona Beach. The company said the expansion supports its JetForward strategy to build the best leisure network along the U.S. East Coast.

“Florida continues to be a place where JetBlue’s combination of great service and value resonates strongly with travelers,” said Dave Jehn, vice president of network planning and airline partnerships at JetBlue. “By adding Destin–Fort Walton Beach to our map, we’re bringing more choices to customers in Boston and New York while opening the door for Emerald Coast residents to connect easily to the Northeast and beyond.”

Connecting coastlines and vacation dreams

Florida’s Emerald Coast — the stretch of shoreline known for its sugar-white beaches and clear, green-tinted waters — is among the state’s most scenic and fastest-growing leisure regions. Located on the Panhandle between Pensacola and Panama City, the Destin–Fort Walton Beach area has long drawn visitors from the South and Midwest for family getaways, fishing trips, and beach vacations. With JetBlue’s new service, those from the Northeast can reach the region in under three hours without layovers.

Okaloosa County Board Chairman Paul Mixon welcomed the announcement, calling it a boost for both tourism and local business. “We want to welcome JetBlue to Destin–Fort Walton Beach and all the passengers they will bring, both business and pleasure, to experience the natural beauty of Northwest Florida,” he said. “We look forward to seeing their success at VPS and appreciate all of the efforts it took to get them here.”

The flights will operate seasonally on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Departures from New York are scheduled for early morning, while flights from Boston leave midday — both returning the same afternoon. Each route will feature JetBlue’s signature amenities: free high-speed Wi-Fi known as Fly-Fi®, complimentary snacks and drinks, and live seatback entertainment. The airline’s customer-friendly service and competitive pricing have made it a favorite among leisure travelers flying between the Northeast and Florida.

Why the Emerald Coast matters to travelers

The Destin–Fort Walton Beach region is often described as one of Florida’s best-kept secrets — a mix of laid-back Southern charm and Gulf Coast beauty. Travelers can explore 24 miles of coastline, from the powdery sands of Okaloosa Island to the vibrant harbor boardwalk in Destin, known as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.” Beyond the beaches, visitors will find coastal trails, dolphin-watching cruises, and family-friendly attractions like the Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park.

The area’s calm waters and unspoiled scenery make it especially appealing for travelers seeking a quieter alternative to Florida’s more crowded destinations. With JetBlue’s affordable fares, the region is poised to attract new visitors from the Northeast looking for a relaxed yet upscale beach escape. The Emerald Coast’s mix of nature, culture, and convenience reflects a growing demand for authentic, stress-free vacation experiences within the United States.

For JetBlue, the expansion further strengthens its footprint in Florida — a cornerstone of its network since its earliest routes to Fort Lauderdale. The airline now serves or plans to serve nearly 50 destinations from Florida, connecting travelers to both major cities and smaller coastal towns. In early 2026, JetBlue will also open a new Mint® base in Fort Lauderdale, underscoring its long-term investment in the Sunshine State.
