Philippine Airlines (PAL) has welcomed the arrival of its second Airbus A350-1000 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, marking another major milestone in the flag carrier’s continuing fleet modernisation programme.
Philippine Airlines remains the first and only carrier in Southeast Asia to operate the Airbus A350-1000. The aircraft is configured in a premium three-class layout with 382 seats.
This delivery marks the second of nine A350-1000s that Philippine Airlines will receive as part of its fleet expansion programme. The new aircraft will join the airline’s existing A350-900s and A350-1000 already in service to expand routes to the US. The addition of the A350-1000 further strengthens the airline’s widebody fleet strategy to grow long-haul capacity while enhancing overall travel experience and operational reliability.
“As demand for international travel continues to grow, this second Airbus A350-1000 will play an important role in enhancing our long-haul operations and elevating the overall passenger experience while supporting the long-term modernisation of Philippine Airlines,” said Philippine Airlines President Richard Nuttall.
The arrival comes as PAL continues to build on its operational momentum following its successful recovery and transformation. In 2025, global aviation analytics firm Cirium recognised Philippine Airlines as the #1 most on-time airline in the Asia-Pacific region.
The A350 is the world’s most modern widebody aircraft and has set new standards for intercontinental travel. The A350’s all-new design incorporates state-of-the-art technologies and aerodynamics, delivering unmatched operational efficiency and passenger comfort. Its new generation engines and use of lightweight materials bring a 25 per cent advantage in fuel burn, operating costs and carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.
The A350 also features a comfortable and spacious Airspace cabin, with wide seats, high ceilings and ambient lighting designed to create a relaxing travelling atmosphere.
