Qatar Airways has announced a codeshare agreement with Xiamen Airlines, marking the first nonstop passenger flights from Mainland China to Qatar by a Chinese carrier.
Beginning 20 October 2023, Xiamen Airlines will introduce daily services from Beijing’s Daxing International Airport to Doha’s Hamad International Airport using the modern Boeing 787-9 aircraft.
These flights, set to leave Beijing at 02:00 and touch down in Doha by 22:45, are strategically timed to facilitate passengers with smooth connections to prominent destinations in Qatar Airways’ expansive network covering the Middle East, Africa, and Europe.
Furthermore, Xiamen Airlines will also commence a bi-weekly service from Xiamen, Fujian Sheng province’s special economic zone, to Doha starting 31 October 2023. These flights, mirroring the ease of connectivity as their Beijing counterpart, will depart Xiamen at 19:30 and reach Doha by 05:00.
This partnership will substantially bolster Qatar Airways’ footprint in Mainland China, where it already operates 31 weekly flights to six destinations and maintains a double daily service to Hong Kong.
For Xiamen Airlines, this collaboration will entail placing its marketing code on Qatar Airways’ Beijing flights, extending its reach and visibility.
Established in 1984, Xiamen Airlines, a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, prides itself on its top-tier service standards and operational excellence. It provides a comprehensive network spanning 105 destinations globally.
The Beijing-Doha route will employ a Boeing 787-9, fitted with 30 Business class and 257 Economy class seats. Meanwhile, the Xiamen-Doha sector will be serviced by a Boeing 787-8, accommodating 237 passengers across three classes.
His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, expressed excitement over the partnership, recognizing the synergy and potential for global customers. Mr. Zhao Dong, Chairman of Xiamen Airlines, also highlighted the mutual commitment to unparalleled service standards, emphasizing the collective accolade of APEX World Class Awards in 2022 for both carriers.
