Beijing named host city for CIMX 2026 global MICE exhibition

Beijing will host the inaugural China International MICE Exchange (CIMX) from 3 to 5 November 2026, following an expanded partnership between the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and Messe Berlin China.

The announcement confirms the Chinese capital as the Official Host City for the new global meetings and events exhibition, which aims to connect international industry players with the Chinese market.

The event is expected to attract more than 200 exhibitors, over 350 hosted buyers and upwards of 5,000 professional visitors. Organisers say the platform will bring together destinations, suppliers and decision-makers to explore new business opportunities, trends and cross-border collaboration.

As part of its role as host city, Beijing will present a dedicated “Beijing MICE Pavilion” showcasing local industry stakeholders and enterprises. The pavilion will highlight the city’s blend of modern infrastructure and cultural heritage, while offering opportunities for international meeting planners, corporate clients and service providers to engage with the market.

The cooperation builds on a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2025 between the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism and Messe Berlin China. Under the agreement, both parties are developing international business event initiatives in Beijing, including the MICE Meeting Point and CIMX, alongside efforts in global promotion, buyer recruitment and industry integration.

“The launch of CIMX in Beijing marks not only a landmark industry event rich with business opportunities, but also a moment of profound cultural resonance. As a destination, Beijing offers more than just a dynamic and efficient business environment—it is also a city of openness and inclusivity, where cultural experiences thrive. We sincerely invite more international conferences and industry partners to come to Beijing, where they can tap into our abundant professional resources and vast market potential. Together, let us drive the global MICE industry toward higher-quality development,” said Guo Huaigang, Director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

“Beijing’s designation as the Official Host City of CIMX marks an important milestone in our long-term strategic cooperation and reflects the city’s growing role in the global business events landscape. CIMX aims to create a truly international platform connecting China with the global MICE community. We look forward to welcoming industry leaders from around the world to Beijing in November 2026 to explore new opportunities for collaboration and growth,” said David Axiotis, Managing Director of Messe Berlin China.

Organised by Messe Berlin China, CIMX is positioned as a dedicated trade show for the global meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions sector. Exhibitors will span the full MICE value chain, including destinations, venues, hotels, airlines, cruise companies, destination management firms, event organisers and technology providers.

A conference programme will run alongside the exhibition, focusing on topics such as experience design, innovation, governance, risk and global demand. The sessions will include keynotes, workshops and executive meetings designed to support knowledge exchange and industry development.

International buyers and overseas media will also be invited to join a Beijing MICE familiarisation trip, offering first-hand insight into the city’s business events infrastructure, cultural assets and market potential. Organisers say the initiative aims to further strengthen Beijing’s position as a leading global destination for meetings and events.

With the launch of CIMX, stakeholders expect closer ties between China and the global business events community. The platform is designed to create new opportunities for international organisations entering the Chinese market while enabling Chinese companies to expand their global engagement.
