Frankfurt has officially partnered with the International Association of Professional Congress Organisers (IAPCO), marking a significant step in strengthening its status as a premier global congress and conference destination.
This partnership aligns with the Frankfurt Convention Bureau’s (FCB) strategic aim to enhance the city’s position as a top choice for international association conventions and business meetings.
IAPCO, with 180 member offices from 45 countries, specializes in organizing a diverse range of congresses, conferences, and business gatherings. As IAPCO’s only German partner destination, Frankfurt stands out as a key location for international events. This collaboration builds on the existing partnership with Messe Frankfurt, a leading trade fair, congress, and event organizer, further establishing Frankfurt’s reputation in the international event industry.
The partnership also supports the “Frankfurt MICE 2030” initiative, a collaborative effort involving the Frankfurt Convention Bureau, DEHOGA Hessen, Messe Frankfurt Venue GmbH, and the Frankfurt Hotel Alliance. The initiative aims to elevate Frankfurt’s appeal to international event organizers and showcase the city as a vibrant, livable destination beyond its business-centric image.
Jutta Heinrich, head of the Frankfurt Convention Bureau, highlighted the advantages of this partnership, emphasizing Frankfurt’s existing reputation as a prime event location. The city’s advantages, such as hosting IMEX and having Frankfurt Airport, are already well-known among international industry professionals. Heinrich expressed enthusiasm about revealing Frankfurt’s more personal side, a city rich in culture and hospitality.
IAPCO President Sarah Markey-Hamm welcomed the FCB to the partnership, praising Frankfurt’s dynamic culture, modern infrastructure, business-friendly environment, and commitment to sustainability. She anticipates this partnership will foster exceptional event experiences for IAPCO members’ clients in Frankfurt.
Martin Boyle, IAPCO CEO, underscored the strategic importance of integrating Frankfurt into the IAPCO community. He emphasized the crucial role destinations play in successful business meetings and events, highlighting the added value of the Frankfurt Convention Bureau’s in-depth local knowledge and support for IAPCO members.
The first opportunity for IAPCO members to personally engage with the Frankfurt Convention Bureau will be at the 54th IAPCO Annual Meeting and General Assembly, scheduled in Ljubljana from February 28th to March 2nd.
