Italy’s Truffle Season Returns: San Miniato’s Big Festival Is Back This November

San Miniato launches the 54th edition of its White Truffle Market this November, bringing three weekends of exhibitions, tastings and cultural events across the Tuscan hilltown and its surrounding truffle-producing territory. The event runs on 15–16, 22–23 and 29–30 November 2025, with the official opening scheduled for 12:30 on 15 November in Piazza Duomo. Authorities and the historical parade will reach the square after the institutional ceremony beginning at 10:00 at the Auditorium Crédit Agricole in Piazza Buonaparte.

The fair highlights the “Colline Sanminiatesi” project, recognised under Regional Law 36/2023 as the area where the Tartufo delle Colline Sanminiatesi originates. During the inauguration, the 30 municipalities involved will sign a Protocol of Understanding aimed at jointly promoting and protecting this truffle-producing region across the provinces of Pisa and Florence.

Events, tastings and cultural programming

The fair features a broad programme combining art, culture and gastronomy throughout the three themed weekends. On the first Saturday, the Biblioteca Luzi hosts the second edition of “Tartufi sonori” at 18:00, followed by Radio Bruno’s 50th-anniversary event “50anni di e sentirci ancora” at 21:00 at the Auditorium Crédit Agricole. Stands and food areas will be active across San Miniato’s historic centre with exhibitors from across Italy.

Piazza del Popolo will focus on national food and wine products, while the upper Loggiati di San Domenico will host the Mercato della Terra di San Miniato and La Via Dei Sapori. Piazza Dante will feature associations dedicated to local food traditions and street food, and Piazza Duomo will concentrate on truffle-related products, wine and olive oil from the San Miniato area.

White truffles and culinary showcases

The white truffles of the San Miniato hills underpin several discussions, meetings and thematic sessions. Coop.fi will curate the show-cooking area, offering a culinary journey through local truffle dishes and regional products led by chef Marco Nebbiai. Participation is free with mandatory reservation.

The first weekend also includes the appointment of the festival’s ambassadors for this new edition dedicated to the Colline Sanminiatesi. On 15 November at 10:00, during the inauguration at the Auditorium Crédit Agricole, the honorary title will be awarded to Davide Paolini, a food and wine journalist known for creating numerous culinary events. On 16 November at 11:00, at the Spazio Incontri in Piazza Duomo, photographer, director and explorer Luca Bracali will receive the second recognition; Bracali won the Portrait of Humanity Award in 2019.

Access to the historic centre will operate through shuttle buses, as private vehicles are not permitted to enter the upper town during the event. Shuttles depart from Via Guerrazzi 102 in San Miniato Basso and run continuously to Piazza Dante in San Miniato Alto. On Saturdays and Sundays, the first departure is at 10:00, with last returns at 00:30 on Saturday and 23:30 on Sunday. Tickets cost €4.50 for a round trip and are free for passengers aged up to 14. Purchases can be made at the departure point and via POS.

A second shuttle point will operate for the first time at the railway station, dedicated exclusively to visitors arriving by train. Travellers who present their train ticket will be able to reach the historic centre free of charge.

The event is organised by Fondazione San Miniato Promozione and the Municipality of San Miniato, with the support of Regione Toscana, Provincia di Pisa, Associazione Nazionale Città del Tartufo, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di San Miniato and the Associazione Tartufai delle colline sanminiatesi. The fair also involves around 20 sponsoring companies, with Coop.fi as main sponsor.
