The Mediterranean archipelago of Malta will host the 8th annual Valletta Baroque Festival – January 10-25, 2020. This 15-day festival will feature esteemed artists in 31 concerts in 16 different locations across Malta and its sister island of Gozo.
The Valletta Baroque Festival 2020 will highlight the many variations of baroque music and its cultural influence on Malta as well as on many other Western European countries. Baroque is a form of Western European art, a form of music that was developed and popularized between 1600 and 1750. Baroque music is still widely popular throughout Western Europe and especially in Malta.
Drawing artists from Malta and abroad, the Valletta Baroque Festival will feature contemporary baroque artists such as Monteverdi and Bach. The festival will explore the rich history and architecture surrounding Valletta while filling the air with baroque music. Whether the venue be the Verdala Palace or the incredible San Filippu ta’ Aggira Parish Church, each performance will transport you back to the heart of the baroque movement.
