Ankara Hosts International Billiards Championship

In the Turkish capital of Ankara at the Gölbaşı Billiards Facilities, an inauguration ceremony marked the beginning of a much-anticipated billiards championship. Before the event began, every participating athlete was honored with a commemorative plaque.

The championship, spanning four categories – Men’s, Women’s, Youth, and Artistic Billiards, is set to conclude on September 23.

The President of the Turkey Billiards Federation, Ersan Ercan, reported that the championship will see the participation of 128 athletes, both local and international. Ercan proudly highlighted that 16 Turkish athletes will be competing in the event. “Our goal is to clinch gold in all categories. We possess one of the world’s premier billiards facilities and can now host numerous international championships,” Ercan remarked.

Ercan extended an invitation to all billiards enthusiasts residing in Ankara to witness the matches.

“The games have started today and will continue until September 23, offering a billiards extravaganza. We welcome all billiards lovers. World-renowned athletes are our esteemed guests. Representing our nation in the men’s category are Tayfun Taşdemir, Berkay Karakurt, Tolgahan Kiraz, and Ömer Karakurt.

In the women’s division, Gülşen Degener and Güzin Müjde Karakaşlı will be competing. The youth category boasts participants like Burak Haşhaş, Denizcan Akkoca, Abdullah Kaya, Alptekin Can Özkan, and Hakan Görgüç.

In the artistic billiards segment, Barış Cin, Mehmet Sezer, Serdar Gümüş, Hacı Arap Yaman, and Tuncay Gülay will represent us. We have high expectations for significant achievements and rankings from all of them. I wish success to all athletes, both local and foreign,” Ercan added. (AA)
