Hotels in Çeşme are operating at 80% to 90% occupancy, while properties in Alaçatı are fully booked this summer, according to the head of the local hotel association.
Orhan Belge, chairman of the board of the Çeşme Tourism Hoteliers Association, said the peak season is now under way in the coastal resort in western Türkiye. He said domestic demand has kept the market strong, even as foreign visitor numbers have fallen from last year.
Belge said war and wider geopolitical uncertainty have hurt early bookings, particularly from Europe, but last-minute reservations and the local market have pushed occupancy levels back up. He added that he expects the busy pace to continue through the rest of the summer.
Belge said hotels in Alaçatı have reached 100% occupancy during the summer season, while the wider Çeşme district is still performing strongly at 80% to 90%. He said the figures show the resort is matching seasonal expectations, even if the mix of visitors has changed.
The Turkish Aegean destination is one of the country’s best-known summer resort areas, drawing both domestic and international holidaymakers to its beaches, marinas and boutique hotels. This year, however, the balance has shifted as more local travellers fill rooms left by fewer overseas guests.
Belge said the decline in early reservations was linked to conflict in several parts of the world. “Because of the impact of war, there was a decline, especially in early bookings. However, when the season began, the domestic market picked up and last-minute reservations pushed our occupancy rates to high levels,” added Orhan Belge.
He said the fall in foreign arrivals was most visible among visitors from Europe. Even so, he said hotels in Çeşme continued to welcome international guests and the sector remained active throughout the season.
The latest update suggests Çeşme is still enjoying a robust summer, supported by domestic tourism despite global headwinds. That pattern has also helped Alaçatı, which remains one of the busiest and most in-demand parts of the district.
