Türkiye has become the most widely connected international destination in Russia’s summer 2026 flight network, with direct services operating from 31 different Russian airports, according to new data reported by RIA Novosti.
The extensive network gives travellers across Russia easier access to Turkish holiday destinations and major aviation hubs than any other foreign country by number of departure airports. The schedule covers the full summer season and includes flights from all of Moscow’s airports alongside services from dozens of regional cities.
The figures underline Türkiye’s continuing importance as the leading overseas leisure destination for Russian travellers. Despite Russia maintaining direct air links with 36 countries and Hong Kong, no other destination matches Türkiye’s breadth of departure points across the country. The latest network reflects the strong demand for holidays on the Turkish Riviera and other popular destinations served by airlines from multiple Russian regions.
Russia expands international connectivity
According to the report, Russia now operates direct international flights to 36 countries as well as Hong Kong. The country’s international network remains heavily focused on Asia, where airlines fly nonstop to 27 countries, including China, Thailand and Vietnam.
China continues to be Russia’s largest international aviation market by destination coverage, with more than 25 nonstop destinations served from various Russian cities. The extensive network supports both business and leisure travel between the two countries.
Meanwhile, direct flights to Tanzania officially began on 2 July, making it the seventh African country accessible nonstop from Russia. The new service, operated by Air Tanzania, links Moscow with Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar using Boeing 787 Dreamliners and is expected to strengthen tourism and trade between the two countries. The launch follows regulatory approval from Russia’s aviation authorities earlier this year. Flights are scheduled three times a week.
The addition of Tanzania expands Russia’s nonstop African network, which already includes Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Ethiopia and the Seychelles.
Türkiye remains the favourite holiday destination
For the travel industry, the latest summer schedule highlights the resilience of demand for travel between Russia and Türkiye. Turkish airports continue to play a central role in accommodating Russian holidaymakers heading to Mediterranean and Aegean resorts, while major cities such as Istanbul also serve as important international gateways.
The extensive network also demonstrates how Russian airlines have continued to diversify their international operations despite changes in global aviation over recent years. While routes across Asia and Africa continue to expand, the scale of direct flights to Türkiye remains unmatched by any other destination in terms of nationwide accessibility for Russian passengers.
