US’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a level 4 travel health notice for Seychelles due to Covid-19, indicating a very high level of coronavirus infections in the country.
“US citizens who must travel to Seychelles are strongly urged to get fully vaccinated before travel and continue to take personal health safety measures to protect themselves, including practicing social or physical distancing, cleaning hands with soap/hand sanitizer, wearing masks, and avoiding crowded areas with poor ventilation,” the CDC stated.
CDC says that travelers should avoid all travel to Seychelles. Because of the current situation in Seychelles even fully vaccinated travelers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants and should avoid all travel to Seychelles.
If you must travel to Seychelles, get fully vaccinated before travel. All travelers should wear a mask, stay 6 feet from others, avoid crowds, and wash their hands, CDC’s Seychelles page warns.
There are currently 1,068 active cases numbers, among which 84 percent are Seychellois and 16 percent are foreigners. Some 65 percent of the active cases are unvaccinated or have received only one dose, whilst the remaining have taken both doses. To date over 59,600 persons have received both doses of vaccines, representing 85 percent of the targeted population.
All educational institutions in Seychelles closed on Tuesday for three weeks as the health authority re-introduced societal restrictions to curb an increase in COVID-19 transmissions.
According to May 3 update, 28 died, and there are 1068 active cases.
