This Easter weekend, an impressive 11 million Britons have set their sights on domestic holiday trips across the UK, aiming to inject a substantial £3.2 billion into the local economy.
The latest survey from VisitEngland, the Easter Trip Tracker, showcases this considerable surge in travel plans within the country.
Compared to last year’s figures, the increase is noteworthy, with only 6.5 million Brits having firm plans for an overnight holiday trip during the same period.
This year, an additional 10.5 million people are still contemplating the idea, with cost-of-living concerns and unpredictable weather patterns being the primary hesitations.
VisitEngland’s Chief, Patricia Yates, emphasized the importance of the Easter weekend for tourism operators, viewing it as a vital period for regaining financial stability post-winter. She notes the ongoing economic challenges but encourages British residents to explore local destinations, offering much-needed support to the tourism sector.
Yates also highlighted the changing trends in holidaymaking, with an inclination towards shorter stays and budget-friendly options. Despite these adjustments, the enthusiasm for exploring the UK’s offerings this spring remains high among the populace.
The majority of those firm in their travel plans are looking forward to short breaks, ranging from one to three nights. This preference underscores the desire for quick, refreshing getaways that don’t stray too far from home.
