IHG Expands Footprint in Saudi Arabia with a New Hotel Indigo Property in NEOM’s Oxagon

IHG® Hotels & Resorts, one of the world’s leading hotel companies boasting 6000 hotels across 18 brands, has signed a franchise agreement to open a Hotel Indigo property in the innovative coastal city of Oxagon, NEOM, in Northwestern Saudi Arabia.

Oxagon is a unique industrial city where thriving communities coexist harmoniously with clean industry, commercial, hospitality, entertainment, and retail activities. The 250-room Hotel Indigo will be strategically located in Oxagon’s first residential community and is expected to open its doors to guests in 2026.

The future-forward city of Oxagon is designed to integrate work, life, and leisure seamlessly. Its neighborhoods will be fully walkable, and it will feature sustainable mass transit and micro-mobility solutions.

Hotel Indigo, one of IHG’s lifestyle brands, prides itself in offering a gateway to some of the world’s most inspiring locations. Each Hotel Indigo property draws inspiration from its surroundings to influence all aspects of the guest experience, from boutique design to locally inspired restaurants. Similarly, Hotel Indigo Oxagon will be designed as a lifestyle destination featuring exciting retail and dining concepts such as cafés, a pool lounge, and a specialty restaurant. The hotel will also provide a range of leisure and wellness facilities, including a spa and 24-hour fitness center.

“We are delighted to announce our first IHG hotel in the exciting and rapidly developing region of NEOM,” commented Haitham Mattar, Managing Director, India, Middle East & Africa, IHG. He emphasized that the upcoming Oxagon hotel embodies the spirit of its innovative location and supports the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 by offering exceptional hospitality experiences.

Oxagon, set to redefine traditional industrial cities, will focus on people, innovation, and sustainability. The city will host a dedicated research and innovation campus and a next-generation sustainable port with a fully automated and integrated supply chain.

Chris Newman, Executive Director, Hotel Development at NEOM, praised Hotel Indigo for its unique ability to blend character and comfort and expressed confidence that IHG is the perfect partner to reflect the essence of Oxagon’s innovative industry, remarkable people, and cutting-edge technology.

IHG currently operates 37 hotels across five brands in Saudi Arabia, including InterContinental, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn, Staybridge Suites, and Voco, with 31 additional hotels in the pipeline to open within the next three to five years. The latest agreement marks another significant milestone in IHG’s expansion in the kingdom, following the signing of a management agreement to open a Hotel Indigo in Mohammed Bin Salman Non-profit City in 2025.
