South African Tourism welcomes Delta

South African Tourism Welcomes Return of Delta Airlines

On August 1, South African Tourism (SAT) welcomed back the return of Delta Airlines nonstop service between Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and O.R. Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg and celebrated 15 years of flying to South Africa.

The flight will be operated on A350-900neo departing Atlanta at 7:00 pm arriving in South Africa at 4:30 pm the next day. Return flight leaves Johannesburg at 10:55 pm and arrives in Atlanta at 9:15 am the same day.

Passengers will enjoy Delta’s longest flight on board its state-of-the-art Airbus A350-900neo offering four cabin experiences including its Delta One Suites that offers travelers a personalized experience, with a full-height door for enhanced privacy and comfort, and a fully flat-bed seat with direct aisle access. Additionally, the Airbus is 25% more fuel efficient than the Boeing 777 it replaces, helping reduce carbon emissions.

“The return of the vital Atlanta to Johannesburg flight service underscores the passion travelers feel and have missed of our beautiful country,” said Jerry Mpufane, President of South African Tourism, North America.

“The reconnection of two major global hubs is critical to our return to business and marks another milestone in the reopening of South Africa to global leisure and business travelers in time for the late summer and fall travel season. Together with our Delta Airlines partners, we look forward to welcoming travelers to one of the world’s premiere bucket list destinations where unrivaled adventure, natural beauty, history, food and culture await to feed their wanderlust.”
