Karnataka Tourism Department has announced an upcoming roadshow event in Chennai on the 3rd of August 2023, aiming to place Karnataka in the spotlight as a leading tourist destination.
The event, set to begin at 5 pm at Taj Coromandel, hopes to underscore Karnataka’s broad range of attractions that cater to diverse traveller interests.
The roadshow’s principal goal is to brand Karnataka as a top-tier tourism destination, offering an extensive selection of services and experiences. The event will see tourism service providers from Karnataka engaging with industry experts, potential business partners, and travellers, laying the foundation for fruitful collaborations to augment Karnataka’s booming tourism sector.
The Director of Karnataka Tourism, Dr. Ramprasath Manohar Varatharajan, voiced his enthusiasm for the event, emphasizing that the roadshow would provide a platform to spotlight Karnataka’s enticing beauty and rich cultural heritage.
Kapil Mohan IAS, Additional Chief Secretary of the Karnataka Tourism Department, shared his excitement about the event, expressing that the roadshow represents a significant stride in unveiling Karnataka’s tourism potential to a broader audience.
Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sri H.K. Patil also shared his vision for Karnataka Tourism. He expressed that the state, with its multifaceted heritage and natural beauty, truly has something for everyone, and this roadshow plays a vital role in presenting Karnataka as a must-visit destination.
Karnataka’s cultural heritage, marked by illustrious dynasties like Kadamba, Chalukya, Rashtrakuta, Hoysala, Vijayanagara, and Wodeyar, is evidenced in its 747 protected monuments. These encompass a mix of ancient temples, palaces, historical landmarks, hill stations, pristine beaches, wildlife sanctuaries, and national parks, including the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Hampi and Pattadakal.
The Western Ghats’ picturesque landscape houses 35 wildlife sanctuaries and 5 national parks, fostering diverse flora and fauna. Karnataka’s coastline, spanning 320 kilometres, is famed for its scenic beaches and exciting water sports activities. Hill stations like Coorg, Chikmagalur, Sakaleshpura, and Kodachadri offer opportunities to explore homestays, taste local coffee and cuisine, and immerse oneself in unique traditions. Kabini, Bandipur, Dandeli, and Nagarhole stand out as the best spots for Jungle Stays and wildlife spotting.
The state’s cultural heritage is also seen through vibrant festivals such as Dasara, Karaga, and Ugadi. Karnataka’s culinary scene is renowned for its mouthwatering diversity, offering both vegetarian and non-vegetarian fare.
