PATA & ICCA Sign MoU to Boost Asia Pacific Travel

The Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has entered into a strategic partnership with the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

This alliance signifies a commitment to fostering responsible growth within the travel and tourism industry globally, with a focus on the Asia Pacific region.

The MoU was ceremoniously signed during the 62nd ICCA Congress in Bangkok, a significant event hosted by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). This marks Thailand’s second time hosting the prestigious Congress, the first being in 2007 in Pattaya. The momentous signing was conducted by PATA CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid and ICCA CEO Senthil Gopinath, in the presence of key figures including TCEB President Chiruit Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, PATA Chair Peter Semone, and ICCA President Marta Gomes.

Noor Ahmad Hamid, CEO of PATA, emphasized the potential of this collaboration to generate business opportunities and economic impact. The synergy between the travel and tourism industry and business events is significant, and PATA is eager to share insights and best practices with ICCA.

The partnership aims to create joint program content that nurtures the Business Travel sector in the Asia Pacific, promotes sustainability in activities and events, and encourages participation in each association’s flagship events, among other initiatives.

ICCA, known for its expertise in the international association meetings sector, provides data, education, communication channels, and networking opportunities. The association advocates for international meetings and offers resources to help organize successful events through its ICCA Association Community.

The strategic alliance between PATA and ICCA is expected to enhance the region’s position as a leading destination for business travel and events, contributing to the sustainable development of the industry.
