Turkish Airlines Launches Sports Subsidiary

Turkish Airlines (THY) has officially launched its new sports subsidiary, THY Spor Anonim Şirketi. The formation of this new company, which was registered with the Istanbul Trade Registry on August 20, 2024, marks a strategic shift for the airline, leveraging its brand into the world of sports.

This new venture comes on the heels of Turkish Airlines’ long-standing involvement in sports through its THY Sports Club.

With a registered capital of 1 million Turkish lira, THY Spor Anonim Şirketi is set to manage and expand the airline’s sports activities under a more formal corporate structure.

The creation of THY Spor Anonim Şirketi allows Turkish Airlines to further solidify its presence in the sports industry, a sector where it has already established a strong foothold through various sponsorships and partnerships.

The company plans to oversee all or part of the sports activities previously managed under the THY Sports Club, providing a more structured approach to its sports-related ventures.

Busan Green and Growing

This move is expected to enhance the airline’s brand visibility and engagement with global audiences, particularly in sports markets where Turkish Airlines has been an active sponsor, including basketball, football, and volleyball.

The airline’s investment in this new subsidiary underscores its commitment to supporting and growing sports activities in Turkey and internationally.

THY’s statement on the establishment of the subsidiary reads:

“The establishment of THY Spor Anonim Şirketi, which was announced in our statement dated April 5, 2024, was officially registered with the Istanbul Trade Registry on August 20, 2024. This new company will oversee all or part of the sports activities conducted under the THY Sports Club structure.”
