Porter Airlines is expanding its 2025–2026 winter schedule with four new routes and a 25% increase in flights to southern destinations during peak travel periods.
The Canadian carrier is introducing new services from Vancouver, Ottawa, and Montreal, further strengthening its U.S. and Caribbean network and building on growing demand for warm-weather travel.
The expanded schedule includes Porter’s first-ever transborder route from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to Phoenix (PHX), along with new flights from Ottawa (YOW) to both Phoenix and Miami (MIA). The airline is also launching its first Caribbean service from Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) to Nassau (NAS). These additions reinforce Porter’s commitment to connecting Canadian travellers with key leisure destinations while supporting its new partnership with American Airlines.
New Routes Strengthen North American Connectivity
The four new routes will begin service in early 2026. Porter’s Ottawa–Miami route launches on January 24 with three weekly flights, followed by daily Vancouver–Phoenix service starting February 2. Montreal–Nassau flights commence February 5, operating three times per week, and Ottawa–Phoenix service begins February 7, also with three weekly frequencies.
All new routes will be operated by the airline’s Embraer E195-E2 aircraft. Each aircraft features a two-by-two seat configuration with no middle seats, complimentary premium snacks, and free high-speed Wi-Fi. Porter’s onboard service includes beverages served in glassware, with additional comfort options available under the PorterReserve fare class, such as extra legroom, fresh meals, and priority airport services.
“Our updated winter schedule represents a major expansion of Porter’s network due to the strong response from customers for our new and existing sun markets,” said Kevin Jackson, President of Porter Airlines. “We are supporting this demand with new routes and increased frequency on existing popular destinations. This growth is about offering more choices, more convenience, and the outstanding service our passengers have come to expect from Porter.”
Beyond the new destinations, Porter is increasing capacity across multiple sun routes from Hamilton, Ottawa, and Toronto Pearson airports. These include enhanced services to Fort Lauderdale, Cancun, Liberia in Costa Rica, Grand Cayman, and Puerto Vallarta. The increased frequency will provide more flexibility for travellers during the high-demand winter season.
Expanded Partnerships and Airport Connectivity
The addition of Miami and Phoenix flights from Ottawa marks an important expansion in Porter’s collaboration with American Airlines. Through Miami, passengers can connect to a wider network of destinations across the Caribbean, Mexico, and South America. Phoenix also serves as a key hub for American, offering onward connectivity throughout the U.S. southwest and beyond.
“Florida continues to be a popular destination for sun seekers and snowbirds from the Ottawa-Gatineau area, making the addition of service to Miami great news,” said Susan Margles, President and CEO of the Ottawa International Airport Authority. “The addition of Phoenix marks the first time YOW will be connected non-stop to Arizona. Through Porter’s partnership with American Airlines via Miami, travellers also gain access to South America and a range of unique destinations across the Caribbean and Mexico.”
For Vancouver, the new Phoenix connection introduces Porter’s first transborder service from Western Canada, expanding its presence beyond the airline’s traditional Eastern Canadian bases. “YVR serves the community by maintaining and expanding global connectivity for British Columbians,” said Russell Atkinson, Director of Air Service Development at Vancouver International Airport. “We’re pleased to welcome Porter’s first U.S. service from Vancouver, offering passengers another convenient, non-stop option to Phoenix. The new route delivers additional capacity to both cities, and with it, millions in economic benefit.”
Porter’s introduction of service to Nassau from Montreal marks a milestone for the airline, representing its debut in the Caribbean market. Karl Brochu, Vice President of Airport Operations and Air Services Development at ADM Aéroports de Montréal, said the new route adds valuable variety for leisure travellers. “ADM Aéroports de Montréal is thrilled to welcome this flight to Nassau, operated by our partner Porter, which will delight travellers seeking warmth, entertainment, and unforgettable memories. It’s the diversity of the offer that makes our air service so rich, and we extend our gratitude to the entire Porter team for this new route.”
Responding to Demand for Sun Destinations
Porter’s decision to expand its winter schedule follows a strong response from travellers to its initial rollout of leisure-oriented routes in recent seasons. The airline’s strategy leverages its Embraer E195-E2 fleet to serve mid-range routes that connect Canadian cities with popular southern destinations efficiently and comfortably. The aircraft’s fuel-efficient design supports Porter’s sustainability goals while offering the capacity required to meet growing market demand.
According to the airline, its enhanced winter program will also support tourism economies across its southern destinations by bringing increased inbound travel from Canada. The Phoenix and Miami routes are expected to stimulate cross-border business and leisure traffic, while the Nassau flight offers direct Caribbean access for Montreal travellers seeking warm-weather escapes.
Flights are now available for booking at flyporter.com and through travel agents. The airline’s continued growth marks a significant step in Porter’s evolution from a regional carrier to a broader North American airline, with a focus on service quality and passenger comfort. With these new routes, Porter strengthens its competitive position during one of the busiest travel seasons of the year.
Porter Airlines, headquartered in Toronto, currently serves more than 30 destinations across Canada, the United States, and the Caribbean. The airline has been steadily expanding since the introduction of its Embraer E195-E2 jets, enabling new longer-range routes beyond the reach of its Dash 8-400 turboprop fleet. The 2025–2026 winter expansion underscores Porter’s strategic focus on connecting major Canadian markets to leisure destinations while maintaining its premium economy service model.
