Regent Bali Canggu opens as Indonesia’s first Regent hotel with new spa concept

IHG Hotels & Resorts has opened Regent Bali Canggu, the first Regent-branded property in Indonesia, introducing a new luxury resort and debuting the world’s first Regent Spa on the island’s southwest coast.

The hotel begins operations on the shores of Canggu with 150 oceanside rooms and suites, multiple dining venues and a slate of wellness, design and service features intended to elevate the Regent brand’s presence in Asia.

The resort sits between the Indian Ocean and Canggu’s rice-terraced hills, marking a significant expansion of IHG’s luxury portfolio in Bali. Regent Bali Canggu incorporates the company’s refreshed interpretation of the Regent brand, combining contemporary design, personalised service and wellness-led experiences as it enters one of Indonesia’s most competitive hospitality markets.

The resort’s design draws from the surrounding Balinese villages and landscape, with materials including stone, teak and marble shaped to echo the region’s horizons and natural colours. Lighting, lattice screens and celadon tones reference nearby coastal and rice field environments, forming the basis of architectural work by WATG Architects with interiors by Hirsch Bedner Associates and landscaping by John Pettigrew. Among its 150 rooms, suites and villas, the 618 sqm Penthouse includes a 30 sqm private beachfront infinity pool overlooking the sea.

Manish Puri, General Manager of Regent Bali Canggu, said: “It is our privilege to bring Regent to Indonesia – a brand with such legacy. Our way of life at Regent Bali Canggu is inspired by the spirited energy of surf culture and the calming effect of our coastline. These contrasts are celebrated through the resort’s invigorating design, storied experiences and unmistakable Balinese charm. Our intention is to uplift our guests, awaken the senses and spark fresh perspectives as they unravel the spirit of Bali.”

A core element of the resort is the Regent Experience Agent, a dedicated service role assigned to each guest to streamline their stay. Experience Agents manage check-ins, reservations and tailored arrangements ranging from surf lessons to private helicopter arrivals. The service model also includes Regent With Compliments, which removes small surcharges and provides amenities such as complimentary shoe cleaning.

World-first Regent Spa debuts in Bali

The opening marks the global debut of the Regent Spa concept, developed with IHG’s in-house Spa & Wellness consultants Raison d’Etre. The spa aims to guide guests through a “transformative path” using treatments that combine vibrating crystal energy, aroma-led therapies and light-based techniques. Seven treatment rooms, including one for couples, form the centre of the facility.

Treatments incorporate Balinese scrubs, wraps and massages as well as contemporary skincare therapies. The resort highlights The Massage Revolution, which is performed on a quartz sand bed designed to cocoon the body while deep pressure and neroli essence are applied. Hydro-wellness features, including a vitality pool, ice baths and saunas, complement the spa’s restorative approach and are positioned to support circulation, relaxation and sensory renewal.

Fitness-focused guests have access to a 24/7 Health Club with dual-use spaces for yoga, stretching and higher-intensity workouts. The resort positions wellness as one of its defining pillars with an emphasis on calm, clarity and balance throughout its facilities.

Regent Bali Canggu’s Personal Havens—signature elements of the Regent brand—provide spaces for private retreat or social connection across guest rooms, terraces and outdoor areas. The resort’s poolside cabanas form part of this concept, offering views of the lagoon and all-inclusive menus, as well as beachside binoculars for observing Canggu’s surf conditions.

Guest rooms feature Oasis bathrooms that allow bathing rituals to be personalised for rest, recovery or skincare needs. Each room includes a Refreshment Gallery stocked with light snacks, homemade infused spirits, Balinese artisan chocolates, teas and locally influenced beverages, replenished daily.

Dining is positioned as a major component of the resort’s offering with six venues spanning Balinese, Asian and international cuisine. Two of the restaurants—Sazón and Cure Bali—are led by award-winning chef Andrew Walsh. Sazón, located along Batu Bolong, features Mediterranean-inspired dishes built around shared plates, seafood and fire-roasted vegetables. Cure Bali, opening in early 2026, will draw inspiration from Walsh’s Michelin-starred Singapore restaurant, merging Asian influences with Indonesian produce.

Additional venues include Taru, which serves dishes such as rendang sapi and udang bakar pete, as well as a Beach House, Pool Bar and Lounge. The culinary programme is designed to reflect both regional tradition and contemporary techniques.

The resort joins a growing global Regent portfolio that spans 11 properties across nine countries, including Regent Hong Kong, Regent Shanghai on the Bund, Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, and Regent Phu Quoc. A further 11 properties are in the pipeline as IHG works toward its goal of operating 40 Regent hotels in key cities and resort destinations. Regent Bali Canggu is positioned as a flagship example of the brand’s modern era and its ambitions to redefine luxury travel in the region.
