RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened the Riu Ventura, a new 705-room property in Cancun positioned next to Playa Delfines and designed to expand the company’s all-inclusive offering in one of Mexico’s most competitive tourism hubs.
The hotel launches with distinctive features new to RIU’s Mexico portfolio, including first-floor swim-up rooms and an adults-only pool and Sky Bar on the sixth floor.
The opening increases RIU’s presence in Quintana Roo to 15 hotels and in Mexico to 23, reinforcing the chain’s strategy to diversify its product offering and strengthen its position in high-demand coastal destinations. The company says the Riu Ventura is built to deliver a comprehensive holiday experience with RIU’s 24-hour all-inclusive concept at its core.
New Features and Expanded Capacity in Cancun
The Riu Ventura introduces elevated swim-up rooms, an amenity not previously available at any RIU property in Mexico. A total of 36 rooms include private pools positioned on the first floor, offering improved views and greater privacy than ground-level configurations typically found in other resorts. The hotel’s sixth-floor adults-only area also sets a new benchmark for the chain, combining a dedicated pool with a Sky Bar overlooking the Caribbean.
RIU states that the property has been developed with both comfort and flexibility in mind, providing a wide range of accommodation and leisure options for families, couples and groups. Four outdoor swimming pools on the ground level and a water play area for children offer additional recreational space. The hotel’s entertainment programme includes daytime and evening activities tailored for all ages, as well as access to RIU Party events held at the nearby Hotel Riu Caribe.
Culinary Offering and Expanded Guest Experiences
The hotel features an extensive culinary line-up, ranging from buffet dining with live cooking stations to speciality restaurants themed around Asian, Mexican, Italian and fusion cuisine. Guests also have access to two snack stations, Pepe’s Food and Tiki Tako, which provide grilled items and tacos throughout the day. The property’s new Sports Bar concept offers American-style dishes and 24-hour drinks and snacks.
Six bars are distributed across the resort, including the Sky Bar on the sixth floor. RIU says the elevated adults-only pool and lounge area capitalise on Cancun’s coastal views while providing a quiet alternative to the busier ground-level pools. Additional guest amenities include a fully equipped gym and the Renova Spa, which offers treatments, massages and wellness services.
For families, the RIU Land kids’ club provides supervised activities designed to engage younger guests. The hotel’s layout and programming reflect RIU’s stated objective of delivering an experience that accommodates travellers of all ages while integrating a range of activity, dining and relaxation options.
The launch of Riu Ventura underscores RIU’s continued investment in the Cancun–Riviera Maya corridor. The chain now operates six hotels in Cancun, six in Playa del Carmen and three in Costa Mujeres. Across Mexico, RIU employs more than 12,600 people and maintains a development pipeline that includes multiple refurbishments and a new construction project scheduled for 2026.
Planned updates next year include the refurbishment of the Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun and the Hotel Riu Palace México in Playa del Carmen. Following these projects, RIU intends to begin construction of the Hotel Riu Palace Quintana Roo in Costa Mujeres, further expanding its portfolio in one of Mexico’s most visited coastal regions.
With its combination of new room categories, expanded dining venues and elevated adults-only areas, the Riu Ventura enters the market as one of RIU’s most diversified properties in Mexico. The company positions the hotel as a step forward in adapting its all-inclusive model to evolving guest expectations while reinforcing its commitment to Cancun as a strategic destination.
