Aeroplan members can now earn points on Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty car rentals

Aeroplan, Air Canada’s travel loyalty programme, has launched a new partnership with Hertz that allows members to earn points on car rentals across the Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty brands.

The deal gives Aeroplan’s more than 10 million active members earning rates of between 2 and 5 points per dollar spent on eligible rentals, depending on their Elite Status tier. Members also receive Status Qualifying Credits toward Aeroplan Elite Status on every rental.

“Car rentals are a natural part of the travel journey, and we’re thrilled to give Aeroplan members more ways to earn and redeem points, while unlocking new benefits along the way,” said Scott O’Leary, Vice President of Loyalty and Product at Air Canada. “Partnering with Hertz is one of the ways we are delivering on the promise we made when we redesigned Aeroplan, providing choice, convenience, and value that extends their loyalty from the air to the road.”

“We’re delighted to partner with Air Canada to deliver even more value to Aeroplan members when they rent from Hertz, Dollar or Thrifty,” said Laura Smith, Executive Vice President, Global Sales and Partnerships at Hertz. “Together, we’re providing premium benefits that will make for a more seamless and rewarding travel experience all around.”

Earning rates and Elite Status benefits

Standard Aeroplan members earn 2 points per $1 spent on rentals across all three brands. Elite 25K, 35K, and 50K members earn 3 points per $1 on Hertz rentals, while Elite 75K members earn 4 points per $1. Super Elite members receive the highest rate at 5 points per $1 on Hertz rentals.

Members accumulate 1 Status Qualifying Credit for every 5 Aeroplan points earned on car rentals, allowing ground travel to contribute directly to Elite Status progression.

Hertz Gold+ status for Elite cardholders

The partnership also unlocks complimentary status in the Hertz Gold+ rewards programme. Aeroplan Elite 25K, 35K, and 50K members, along with Aeroplan Core Credit Cardholders, receive complimentary Five Star status. Elite 75K and Super Elite members, along with Aeroplan Premium Credit Cardholders, receive complimentary President’s Circle status.

All Air Canada customers booking through aircanada.com receive preferred pricing on car rentals as part of the agreement, regardless of Aeroplan membership tier.

Aeroplan members can currently earn or redeem points on more than 50 airlines covering 1,300-plus destinations globally. The programme also offers redemptions on hotel properties through Aeroplan HotelSavers and retail purchases via the Aeroplan eStore, which includes brands such as Amazon and Apple.

The Hertz partnership is the latest expansion of Aeroplan’s partner ecosystem since the programme was redesigned by Air Canada.
