Travel Retail Vilnius (TRV), a subsidiary of global travel retailer Gebr. Heinemann, has reopened its redesigned duty free and travel value shop in the Schengen area of Vilnius Airport. The new retail space forms part of the airport’s wider modernization programme and is now the largest duty free store in the Baltic region.
The new walk-through store covers 1,300 square metres, making it around 55% larger than the previous retail area. The reopening coincides with the launch of a new departure terminal, the reconstruction of existing terminal facilities and the expansion of commercial areas designed to improve the passenger experience for more than 5 million annual travellers.
The project reflects Vilnius Airport’s efforts to accommodate growing passenger numbers while creating a more integrated retail environment within newly designed passenger flows. By the end of 2026, TRV also plans to open a new Non-Schengen duty free store.
“Our long-standing partnership with Lithuanian Airports is built on trust, close collaboration and a shared ambition to continuously improve the passenger experience. Over the years, we have jointly developed the retail landscape step by step. The reopening of our shops is a natural continuation of this journey, taking our cooperation to the next level,” said Oleg Zhytomyrsky, Sales Director Eastern Europe and Central Asia at Gebr. Heinemann.
Simonas Bartkus, CEO at Lithuanian Airports, said: “We are thrilled to see the largest duty-free shop in the Baltics open in Vilnius – an airport which has been witnessing significant infrastructure growth and record passenger numbers. We are thankful to our long-term partners at Gebr. Heinemann for unveiling this central location among the reconstructed departures terminal which will cater to the needs of more than 5 million passengers each year. I am certain that a warm and inviting interior paired with a diverse offering will provide a great travel experience for all.”
Expanded Retail Offering for Travellers
The new store brings together an expanded product range across beauty, confectionery, wines and spirits, tobacco, accessories, sunglasses, jewellery and toys. New categories have also been introduced, including electronics, fashion, footwear and travel essentials such as hair dryers, travel irons and shavers.
A major feature of the redevelopment is the enlarged beauty department, which spans approximately 300 square metres. Niche perfumes play a prominent role within the space, reflecting growing demand for exclusive and premium fragrance brands among travellers.
Showcasing Lithuanian Identity
Around 240 square metres of the store is dedicated to Lithuanian products, highlighting local craftsmanship and heritage. The section features products from Lithuanian perfumers and designers, alongside leather goods, textiles, linen products and traditional gourmet foods.
The design concept combines natural colours and materials with decorative elements inspired by Lithuanian ethnoculture. These features are integrated with modern retail technology to create a contemporary shopping environment that reflects the country’s cultural identity.
“With the reopening in Vilnius, we are taking the next step in translating changing passenger expectations into a concrete retail experience. The new concept integrates retail seamlessly into the passenger journey, while at the same time putting a strong emphasis on local identity. This combination allows us to create a distinctive sense of place that resonates with international travelers and reflects the uniqueness of Lithuania,” said Orinta Amelija Ambrazeviciene, Managing Director Travel Retail Vilnius.
The store also introduces a zoned music concept designed to create a more immersive shopping atmosphere. The initiative aims to enhance passenger comfort while reinforcing the overall retail experience as Vilnius Airport continues its transformation into one of the region’s leading aviation gateways.
