TransNusa has expanded its network with the launch of a new international route between Jakarta and Bangkok while also introducing Indonesia’s first direct scheduled flights between Bali and Wakatobi. The airline said ticket sales have started for the new services, which also include a new domestic route linking Bali with Waingapu.
The expansion strengthens connections between Indonesia and Thailand while improving access to some of Indonesia’s best known island destinations. Flights from Jakarta to Bangkok start from USD167.54, while fares from Bali to Wakatobi start from USD103.30 and Bali to Waingapu from USD75.36.
TransNusa said the Jakarta to Bangkok service forms part of its wider strategy to expand connectivity across Southeast Asia and meet growing travel demand between Indonesia and Thailand, two countries with strong tourism and business links.
The carrier also described the Bali to Wakatobi service as a historic milestone. According to the airline, it is the first airline in Indonesia and the world to plan, develop and launch a direct route between Bali and Wakatobi, home to the world’s second largest barrier reef and a destination known internationally for diving and marine tourism.
The new route follows another network first achieved by the airline in 2024, when it introduced a direct service between Bali and Manado, another destination popular with divers.
Datuk Bernard Francis, Group Chief Executive Officer of TransNusa, said the latest expansion would strengthen both the airline’s international and domestic network.
“Thailand is one of the region’s vital tourism hub. Hence, TransNusa’s scheduled flights will provide travellers with greater flexibility while supporting trade and tourism between the two countries,” said Datuk Bernard Francis, Group Chief Executive Officer.
He added: “The Jakarta to Bangkok route is one of the busiest and strongest international routes in the region, serving millions of travellers each year. By operating daily scheduled flights for this route, we aim to provide a more seamless connections for our passengers traveling across Southeast Asia and beyond.”
Datuk Bernard Francis also said the airline aims to improve accessibility across Southeast Asia by continuing to launch new routes and expand both its international and domestic operations.
