New Umrah visa guide aims to make Saudi pilgrimage planning easier

iVisa has launched a free 2026-2027 Umrah Visa Guide to help pilgrims navigate Saudi Arabia’s visa requirements as demand for the Islamic pilgrimage continues to reach record levels. The guide provides updated information on visa eligibility, processing times, costs and travel requirements, aiming to simplify a process that many travellers find increasingly complex.

The launch comes after Saudi Arabia recorded 904,000 pilgrims at Masjid al-Haram in a single day on Feb. 21, 2026, nearly doubling the previous record. According to iVisa, growing interest in Umrah has been matched by increasing confusion over changing visa rules, residency requirements and seasonal restrictions.

Umrah can be performed throughout most of the year, unlike Hajj, which takes place on fixed dates in the Islamic calendar. As international travel to Saudi Arabia continues to grow, prospective pilgrims are faced with multiple visa pathways, nationality specific requirements and different eligibility rules depending on where they live.

iVisa said travellers often struggle to identify the correct visa, understand whether their nationality qualifies, determine which travel dates remain available and distinguish between official guidance and outdated information published online.

The company said its new guide has been developed to bring this information together in one place and keep it updated as regulations evolve.

Luis Enrique, Head of Fulfilment at iVisa, said: “Millions of people are planning Umrah this year and they deserve accurate, straightforward information. The challenge isn’t just the visa process itself, it’s that the guidance available online is often inconsistent or out of date. As visa experts, we wanted to create something pilgrims can actually rely on.”

Guide explains visa options and eligibility

The 2026-2027 Umrah Visa Guide includes information on eligibility based on nationality and residency status, alongside a calculator to estimate visa costs and realistic processing timelines, including travel during Ramadan.

It also compares the dedicated Umrah visa with the Saudi tourist eVisa, helping travellers understand which option may best suit their circumstances. The guide outlines important seasonal dates throughout the 2026-2027 pilgrimage period and explains how visa requirements may vary depending on when travellers plan to visit.

For applicants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and several other countries, the guide also explains the Masar system. This process requires applications to be submitted through a licensed agent and typically takes between five and 10 business days.

Growing demand for reliable travel information

Saudi Arabia has invested heavily in expanding capacity for religious tourism as part of its wider tourism development strategy. With more international visitors expected in the coming years, access to reliable and regularly updated travel information has become increasingly important for first time and returning pilgrims alike.

Luis Enrique said: “Whether it’s your first Umrah or your tenth, the rules can change season to season. We want pilgrims focused on their journey, not lost in paperwork.”

iVisa said the guide is available free of charge and will be updated regularly to reflect changes in Saudi visa policies and pilgrimage requirements. By bringing visa guidance, eligibility rules and planning information together in one resource, the company hopes to help travellers prepare with greater confidence before beginning their journey to Saudi Arabia.
